It's a horror to my ultra-conservative Evangelical Christian parents that their son turned out as a Liberal Atheist.

First, what does this have to do with being an American? I, as an American, am not diminished by the action of one intolerant person. You losing faith in your country over one isolated act is your loss, and your loss alone.

It also makes me hate religion

1. I did not see the word "religion" in that article, so you tying it into this is a bit non sequitarish.

even more than I already do.

Interesting that you already hate religion, because as a college student, it would seem you might realize that religious intolerance and gender discrimination are two birds of the same "fear of the unknown" feather.

While I'm still vehemently opposed to same sex marriages, this might be a little stretch. At the same time, a tuxedo? Really? That's REALLY flaunting your relationship. Two girls, two dresses. And wtf does religion have to do with it? I like it when all these social issues come up, the first to be blamed is religion. Then again, I blame secularism for America's continual downfall so whatever.

This could definitely be a slippery slope if same sex couples were allowed to go to prom because the homos would definitely use that as a tool for "well why can't we get married then?!!"

I agree. That's like saying "How can I raise my kids properly if the president was caught having an affair with a teenager?" Really? All of your goals, morals, and ethics are thrown out as the result of a single action?

I'm so glad I didn't get a liberal arts degree. That's what's dicking up America today and breeding the dumbest generation we've had since the 20th century began.

That's because it's a typical atheist response.

I think the tuxedo is basically flaunting the homosexuality. I would have less of a problem if they both go as they are, rather than trying to make a ridiculous statement.

well whats wrong with flaunting it? heterosexual men do not wear skirts, because theyre not gay. they wear tux's to show, or flaunt, their heterosexuality. same with heterosexual women.

im not pointing a finger at you or anyone else but people used to say the same thing about black people in the 50's because they would go out of their way to show that they had the same rights as white people.

The whole "black people" argument has been done and redone and is usually a last resort argument for people arguing for equal rights for homosexuals. "Well we discriminated against black people and we found out we were wrong, so we're wrong about this!!" It doesn't work. And I'd like to think that the color of your skin is different than your sexual preferences and/or tendencies. I have no problems with homosexuals that keep their sexual preferences and life quiet. It's the ones that think they are special or unique that bother me. "I'm gay and I'm proud!!" Wonderful, so you admit it's a choice, not a disease.

Don't get me wrong though, I have an issue with heterosexual couples that flaunt their sexuality. Keep your shit in the bedroom.

its not an argument its an observation.

but you liking to think that the color of your skin is different than sexual preference is... i dont know, but there isnt really a difference imo. i think homosexuality is inherent not just some lifestyle choice that people make... considering that dolphins have sex for pleasure reasons not in the intrest of procreation, including gay sex rape and gang bangs, i dont think its a stretch to assume that homosexuality could just be genetic. and if it is genetic then there is factually no difference between it and the color of your skin.

i agree with you about flaunting your sexuality period though.

There's absolutely no conclusive scientific studies anywhere stating that homosexuality is a disease. Not to mention, homosexuals can't flaunt their "uniqueness" and claim that they're proud, then claim that homosexuality is a disease and shouldn't factor into same sex rights.

Here is my thing:

Gay people who come out, are refusing to hide who they truly are. More power to them. If you don't believe in a deity, than there is no reason not to do that.

But cross-dressers? crossdressers are DENYING who they are. A guy may be a gay man, but he is STILL a MAN. He is not a woman. Wearing women's clothing makes absolutely NO sense. It is pretending to be something you are not, which is no better than remaining in the closet.

That's why it pays to be straight 🙂

Maybe they just like wearing skirts and tux's. In my opinion, more power to them. Even if its not something I'd do or even if it makes me uncomfortable, it's their choice and telling them not to do it becuase of that is bigotted, wrong and impunning (why do I think that word has a g in it?) their rights and freedoms.

And Beefy, being gay is no more a disease than having black hair is a disease, its just the way they were born.

What really doesn't make sense is people who like getting whipped, but who cares, its their body, they can do whatever they want with it.

Prove it.

I don't really understand the mentality of "it's right for me but it may not be right for you", or "it's wrong for me but it may be right for you". How does any of that relativism bullshit make sense?

Prove it. Studies would be nice btw.

DE, so seriously, what right do you have to tell me I can't be naked anywhere I want? It fits every bit of your rebuttal as well as cross-dressing does.

Cross-dressing is cowardice. It is pretending to be something you are not. It is no different than the closet homosexual who refuses to tell the world, because he feels some kind of shame for what he is doing.

Be WHO you are. Don't feel like you have to pretend to be someone else. A gay man PRETENDING to be a woman isn't comfortable with who he is, which is a gay MAN.
