I really hate it when professors mess up the required reading list. I spent over three hundred bucks on books this quarter and then discovered that one of my profs had changed his mind and told us to buy a different book... a week after the quarter started.

Gah.

Why would you pay $300 for a book? I mean that kind of nonsense isn't supposed to happen until Grad school.

All of my books combined equaled over $300.

Are you a freshman? I didn't have to buy books until I actually declared a major.

Junior.

That's weird, because I've been buying books since my Freshmen year in Running Start.

Your grades are probably better than mine were then. I lived by the philosophy of "work smart, not hard." I managed a steady 3.0 GPA before I had to buy my first book when I declared for economics. Then I decided undergrad was useless and it went downhill from there.

I have a 3.5 right now. I had a 3.95 but then I kind of screwed up this retarded elective art class I had and my GPA dropped.

Another year and a half and I'll have my BA in Philosophy and Sociology.

You know what's funny? Me and my friends make fun of high achievers. If your GPA is a 3.95, we call you a ******* moron because you don't have a 4. IF you have a 4, you're a tool because you don't take the advanced classes..But I digress.

That's a great GPA, I wish I had that, EVER. The only art class I took was art history 1, which was a bunch of useless shit.

I made the mistake of taking this Color and Design class since I do a lot of digital graphic design on the side.

The prof turned out to be this epic ***** of a woman and the class was all about painting.

I hate painting unless is nice and clean, like digital painting.

I'd kill for a 3.5. That means you're basically hitting dean's list each semester correct?

The alternate ending to I am Legend is so much better than the first I just shat myself. At least I think that was why...

It was better but it was nothing spectacular. The spectacular thing is that they didn't use it.

Each quarter yes.

Damn you. What is your major?

Dual major in Philosophy and Sociology. I have two choices. Either I go on to Grad school and get a PhD and teach at college level, or I go to Law School and have no life for three years.

I'll let you know how the latter goes in exactly 4 1/2 months. Becoming a professor in college guarantees a substantial income, but you'll be fighting for positions. That is, after 5 years of a PhD, plus another 2 of undergrad. Going to law school is the ultimate test in measuring intelligence and while you might not have a life for 3 years, your prospects would appear better after 3 years of law school, as opposed to 7 years of getting a PhD. This of course, assumes you do well in either grad school.

I'm not worried about my capabilities so much as what I want to do. I'm less concerned about money and more about enjoyment of the job.

Sitting at a desk for 70 odd hours a week, filing briefs and meeting clients is not something I think I would enjoy.

Teaching at the college level is something I think I could enjoy, even though the prospects aren't as good money wise. As long as I had a decent salary that I could support myself with I would be happy with a job I enjoyed.

I'm not going to be sitting and filing briefs for 70 hours a week without killing myself or doing cocaine. That's a paper pushing job that yields huge profit and appeals to most people without a personality. I'm going to be attending the #3 school in the nation in trial advocacy. Most of my lawyer friends are all trial attorneys. I also currently work at a Personal Injury Law Firm to kill the time since they already gave me a LOR.

In terms of teaching, you have to have an assload of patience. I couldn't handle the moronic students in my class, their methods of cheating, their bullshit, etc. But you're what? 20? You've got years lol.
