I know you meant Zidane, but Maradona > Zidane nonetheless.

That's a personal opinion, like people thinking Messi>Ronaldo.

Zidane was a more complete player than Maradona ever was. Maradona's speed was pretty much the only thing he possessed. Zidane's technique was better as well as his set pieces.

The same argument would apply to Messi and Ronaldo, with Messi being compared to Maradona and Ronaldo, while not being compared to Zidane, is better than Messi because of technique and set pieces.

Maradona single-handedly won the WC86 with the greatest individual performance ever seen in a world cup whereas Zidane, in 98, was next to invisible until the final; up until that it was really the WC of Ronaldo (who played in the final with an injury) which is just supported by the fact that it was him who was awarded MVP and not Zidane.
And saying that the only thing Maradona possessed is speed (which wasn't even that good) is just outrageous. He really had it all: great vision, technique and passing ability, he could take on 3 defenders, etc. Just watch some YT-videos dedicated SOLELY to his passing skill. I would even say that everything Zidane could do Maradona could do better (except for heading obviously).

Seriously the only one who can compare to Maradona is Pele. Comparing THOSE two would be like comparing Messi and C.Ronaldo today, where it comes down to opinion.

Zidane was good, but just nowhere near as good as Maradona.

Single handidly? I guess zidane single handidly won the 98 world cup. Then he retired and came out of retirement only to lead his shitty team to the 2006 finals and had the perfect ending had he not headbutted mazzari. France have scored 1 goal without zidane in the lineup since 98. Zidane is better than Maradona.

Did you just ignore everything I wrote just to come to that conclusion? 😐

No, I added something more impressive.

Wow, what a choke from Ghana just now. Missing the game winning PK? Gotta finish that..

I don't think even the Baggio choke of 94 compares to this. How many chances are you going to have to get a penalty on the last play of the game on your home continent? Gyan is going to get executed.

African nations have been known to be chokers in soccer and just terrible penalty kick takers. I'm kinda glad though because I was going to feel so bad for Suarez. He did what he had to do to save the game. But now Uruguay has to play Holland without their leading scorer.

They weren't going to beat the Dutch anyway, though, so...

I don't know, with the way Forlan and Suarez have been playing, they have/had a shot.

And hey - didn't I call a week or so ago that Brazil didn't have the offensive ability to go all the way? They had several chances they could have converted today, and in the second half especially almost all of their passes were sloppy.

😄 I should be an analyst.

OMG Brazil lost to the Netherlands!

And the overtime of the Gana vs Uruguay game was pretty intense.

Except that you didn't, not a bit.

No, he didn't. See my other post.

He retired from the national team, which means absolutely nothing to your argument.

"shitty team"? Henry, Ribery, Thuram, Vieira, Makelele...Maradona had who? Passarella and, if your being gracious, Valdano. I'm sorry but you've just lost all your credibility.
I'm not going to bother with this anymore.

Anyways, Germany is gonna destroy Argentina tomorrow. 😄

I believe I stated that this was Brazil's weakest team since the 1990 World Cup and Dunga was a douche for not putting in a playmaker like Ronaldinho.

I've got money on that, too.

Yeah, I said similar. I have no idea why Ronaldinho was left off the team, to which you replied something to the affect of "Because Dunga is a...."

MÜLLER!! 😄

That Cesar Romero guy sucks.

I don't remember the last time the majority of the world cheered for Germany. I love cheering for these guys now that primadonna Ballack isn't on the team. They don't dive, they don't *****, they just play soccer and they play extremely well as a team. They're very young and inexperienced yet they've handled their situations in world class fashion. Hard not to cheer for them.

But... what about their history?
