Can someone like that really exist? I mean really?

Social welfare? 😛
Back to the topic: I don't think that basic webdesign offers too much possibilities to make money in the age of CMS. That and the fact that most ISPs are offering their customers complete Website-kits for free or for a few dollars. I certainly wouldn't pay anybody $500 to create a basic homepage, when I can do it myself in 20 minutes without previous knowledge on the issue - for free.

Well. Graphic design is fine. But concerning webpages: The "Web 2.0 movement" will be the death of any conventional website, no matter how well it's designed (and I'm sure you do your job rather well in that department). People will turn away from "cool graphic websites" towards those that just offer information. Wikipedia is one of the outcomes here and smartphones (with compareably slow Internet access) are working in favor of that kind of development.
It's certainly better than pushing carts for Walmart.Yep, that's right. I'm a cart pusher at Walmart
Well. It's certainly better, as long as you can generate are compareable (or greater) income constantly, but that's the tricky part of the job.

Hmm. Day trading? That can be rather exciting business. But given the rather low profit margin, and the amount of "gambling" involved, I always thought it required unreasonable expenditure to do the job right (at least for private investors).

Well, day trading turned into investing finally. I did most of the day trading 3-4 years ago, now I just play with precious metals and dividend paying stocks.
As for Veneficus, you're 15 years too late man. You being able to make web pages means nothing because there are millions of people better than you, cheaper than you, and can advertise their services. Congrats on the $500 but you'll need to find a different niche eventually.
