I, too, would prefer to see more James Spader. Did you know he was the original Dr. Jackson in the Stargate movie? He didn't sign on to the tv show and so they just got a different actor without commenting on the change. 😂

Yea I was pissed off when Spader didn't play DJ on the series.

I did know that; the movie was pretty decent. Kurt Russell was present, if I'm not mistaken. I also heard Mr. Spader was on the finale of The Office not too long ago. (Too bad I don't watch it.)

tj
your guy from BL was on the Office. he was pretty spectacular. you see that?

That was scary. Quit raping my thoughts...................

But no, I didn't. I heard great things, though.

I'm with DS here.

Horrifying phrase to ever see, ever.

That being said, Armageddon was awful even if I didn't care that an asteroid the size of Texas would break up into smaller chunks and still **** shit up. The movie was just plain bad.

And I've never watched any of the CSIs, they looked retarded. Tried out NCIS but didn't like it.

omg omg omg Catherine Tate is going to be the boss!

Z.

Unacceptable. Absolutely fvcking unacceptable. Who the fvck would choose some b1tch over James fvcking Spader?!

I demand that you stop her, at once!

I'd prefer it to not be on the air and Boston Legal still be alive.

This.

I'm actually glad I spared myself the pain of having to see a show I love pulled so unjustly from the air. Years removed now, I think it's safe to jump in again.

DS, the new girlfriend is "Carly." She is not Mikaela. And her boss is Patrick Dempsey and he calls her "Duchess." She is very high brow relatively speaking, which isn't surprising given the modelactress playing her or even necessarily a bad thing, but I much prefer Mikaela.

S'okay tho, Optimus Prime keeps Jetfire's upgrades (and apparently has a transforming trailer to boot, which I imagine is not unrelated to said upgrades) and appears to once again kick breathtaking amounts of metal ass. That was arguably the greatest contribution of TF2, by the way, and perhaps its singular (but vast) improvement over TF1; Prime wrecked everybody's shit in Fallen, overly so with regards to Megatron and the Fallen himself, but it was preferable to him getting inexplicably humiliated by Megatron in the first movie. I can pretend the villains were weaker in the sequel on account of shoddy parts and whatnot (Megatron) and millenia of sedentary, energon-starved existence (Fallen).

what? where did you hear that? I thought that was going to be the cliffhanger for next season?

oh def, but if there is a chance then it has to happen. The universe wouldn't be so cruel as to deny me that.

BL was one of television's greatest achievements. James Spader is TV's best anti-hero, IMHO.

In an action/adventure/science-fiction/fantasy movie, a film is only as good as its villain. Meaning that if the bad guy's a pussy or is unthreatening, the film sucks. That Megatron went from Optimus's equal to his redheaded stepson is unacceptable.

Is that why Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 were such shit?

From an Optimus Prime standpoint, that transition was acceptable.

Yes, yes it was.

Thematically? Of course not, which (among other reasons) is why the movie failed to be compelling. It was still enjoyable, though, and finally getting to see Prime maim and slaughter righteously was the reason why.

And Bumblebee, of course. Bumblebee vs. Rampage = goddamn.

Yah. Beckett was a very weak villain.

Very weak.

I'm going to have to kindly ask you to watch your fvcking mouth, you insensitive douche.

Anywayz,

No, that's not why the second and third sequels were bad. Pirates has always had intimidating villains. Davy Jones was an eldritch creature equipped with intimidating powers and invulnerability, not to mention the master of the Kraken. Beckett, who was, all things considered, the more dangerous of the two, was an astute strategist and manipulator who had all of the characters dancing to his tune. Was he a warrior? No, but when held at gunpoint in 2 and attacked by Sao Feng's ship in 3, he was unimpressed.

Beckett wasn't a fighter, but he doesn't have to be if that's not his role. He was dangerous through application of intellect and resources. Jones, on the other hand, was a very powerful adversary in the physical sense and that was why Beckett sought to use him as a weapon.

and the goddess chick was soo stupid and i hated everything to do with her, including oblivion.

And Blackbeard was boring. I was rooting the Spanish guy on the whole time.

I missed the first 15-20 minutes of the movie so I didn't understand what the Spanish' thing was for most of the movie.

I rooted for them at the end though. Their whole motivation was so out of left field that I couldn't help but enjoy it.

The mermaids were still the most interesting (and well done) part of the movie though, imo.

Except for the main one. She annoyed me.

The whole Calipso tangent of the story was uninteresting except for the impact it had on fleshing out Davy Jones' character.

Blackbeard wasn't boring, exactly. But the way I view him is the same as I view Lord Voldemort. Through dialogue and sheer gravitas, I find something compelling and intimidating about him. Blackbeard's handling of the pistols when threatening Angelica or threatening the mermaid with death or threatening Philip with death was portrayed very well.

But we really didn't get anything beyond standard pirate ruthlessness. Barbossa was just as spiteful and malignant in the first film, and Blackbeard is supposedly a far more intimidating figure.

Blackbeard came off as a huge pussy to me.

He wasn't nearly as ****ed up as Barbossa, Davy Jones, or even Jack Sparrow as he was before they butchered his character in this latest movie. If Phillip had talked shit to any of them right in front of their crew like he did to Blackbeard multiple times his ass would have gotten merc'd that very moment, their souls be damned.

And Beckett, don't forget Beckett. Becket would've done worse.
