Alright, first of all, I'm real sorry i took so long to get this up,i had a couple of issues with characterisation and such, but i do hope it's been worth the wait...
For anyone who needs to catch up:
Part 1
Part 2
Now, just to let you know, it jumps around a bit because of how many characters there are, so a second or even a third reading may be necessary to get the full story...
if it only takes you one reading, well, good for you... 😛
without further ado...
Part 3:
--------------------------------
"Not bad Tin Man... haven't been hit that hard in a LONG time," Cage smiled, rubbing his jaw as he crouched, leaning on one knee...
"You should know, I can hit harder... but I do not wish to hurt you any more than I have to..."
"Tough talk, and yet I’m still here," Cage answered standing up straight...
"For now," Colossus said coldly as he readied himself for the oncoming Cage...
Colossus leaned back as Cage swung, Colossus's speed barely enough to dodge or block what punches he could... Cage was no slouch himself, several times dodging punches that would have put him out for the count... Colossus feinted, dodging a left uppercut, but intentionally dropped his left, letting Cage smack him with a powerful right hook, cage smirked at first, only stopping when he realised Colossus had a grip of that same right arm... Peter twisted his arm, striking him in the chest, forcing Cage to one knee, where he was met with a thunderous knee to the jaw... Cage flew back, landing hard. He sat up, his nose gushing blood... "Son of a," he gulped, spitting blood... Colossus stood over him, fist clenched...
"We are done here, now yield, I do not wish to hurt you..."
Cage coughed up some more blood... The Russian had cracked a rib at the very least, and his jaw was most likely broken... and yet he still got to his feet...
"That all you got? My grandma hits harder than you, punk..."
"I am sorry, I truly am," were the last words Cage heard as Colossus hit him with an immense right uppercut, sending Cage flying through the air at least twenty feet until he smashed into the ground, completely knocked out...
"Why are you here?"
"I'm here to show you that what you're doing is wrong Robert... and I think you already know that don't you?"
"But this woman is a threat to the world... she needs to be stopped..."
"Stopped? She’s done what she needed to do, you don't think we are capable of taking care of her and making sure this doesn’t happen ever again?"
"I... I don't know... Tony-"
"Tony Stark is little more than a millionaire playboy with too much time on his hands... he's hardly the person I’d look to where morality is concerned..."
"Capt-"
"An outdated icon from a long dead era..."
"She has to be contained," Sentry said struggling to his feet...
"Her father is taking care of her, and until you arrived she had the finest telepaths in the world looking after her... do tell me how what we were doing was wrong, would you?"
"Too much at stake... too much at stake..." Sentry was now on his feet, his eyes giving off that familiar glow... "Get out of my head, GET. OUT. OF MY. HEAD!!!"
Outside, both women stood, determined faces staring at each other... Shadowcat. Spider-Woman. Both had seen their fair share over the years. Both more similar than they'd admit. Both ready to do what was necessary to do what they believed was the right thing to do. Spider-Woman raised her arm, and even though she'd tried this dozens of times already, it didn't stop her trying again... she got several blasts off at Shadowcat, but Pryde was ready as she dived forward phasing quickly enough to let the bolts pass through her as she rolled up onto her feet...
"You never get hit at all, do you?"
"Not really..." Kitty half smiled, half growled...
"Let's just end this," Drew said breathing hard as she leapt forward...
Their fight was almost like an elaborate ballet... both women moved fluidly, each blow measured, and yet countered with the same amount of efficiency... and although one or the other got the occasional punch or kick to it's target, the victim was quickly able to counter with a move of their own. It had come at a price though... fighting this well, for this long, was bound to take its toll... and it did eventually as kitty overextended with a right cross, which Drew easily dodged, allowing her to catch the young mutant with a high kick to the head, knocking Kitty down... Kitty groaned, Spider-Woman standing over her, ready to finish her off...
Storm was falling fast, Iron Man's stun blast incapacitating her... "Crap," Iron Man gave chase, his boots accelerating him until they were feet from the ground, but he made it, catching her just in time... he let out a sigh of relief as he lowered himself to the ground... No one dies, he thought to himself, turning to see Cap and Logan engaged in battle...
Both men stood, their bodies’ heavy, every breath a titanic effort... Cap's shield was heavy, blood splashed across the symbolic bright white star... his uniform cut across the shoulders and chest, blood drying on his skin... Logan was just as bad, the whole left side of his face cut to pieces, yet slowly healing... his torso completely exposed, his chest covered in blood from wounds that had already healed...
"Not bad Cap, but you know I’m gonna beat ya... I always could..."
"Yet you've never proved it, have you son?"
"I'm about to," Logan said, roaring as he launched himself at Cap...
Spidey dodged and weaved, swinging through the large woods that made up the rear of the Xavier Estate. Not far behind him was Beast, his agility enabling him to leap from tree to tree almost Tarzan-like.
"Can't keep up with me forever, you do know that right?"
"I don't intend to," Beast answered, snarling a little, anything to try and put Parker's concentration even slightly off. Every so often Spidey would turn in the air, firing several blasts at the X-Man, but somehow Beast was up to the task. They soon arrived at a clearing, and Parker did several somersaults through the air before landing in the centre. Beast followed, leaping from the last tree, remarkably able to make up the distance between him and the web-slinger almost instantaneously, and yet that still wasn't enough. Spider-Man leapt, twisting in the air over Beast's head, coming down behind him, his webs already wrapping Beast tightly and securely.
"Tsk tsk... all that work, and for what? To end up lookin' like Frodo..."
Beast growled as he struggled, but the webbing was too tight for him to get any leverage...
"What, not even a 'this isn't over?' for shame..."
"You do realise that this webbing won't hold me for long, don't you?"
"Of course, I do, but I’ll bet it's long enough for us Avengers to do what we do... speakin of which, I gotta be goin..." Spidey grinned through his mask as he headed back toward the fight...
Cap ducked and rolled, coming up behind Logan as he landed, and as both men turned to face each other, Logan thrust with his right, but Rogers sidestepped, bringing the shield up, the front smashing into Wolverine's face... Logan swung with his left, but Cap ducked, coming back at Logan with a right cross...
Logan was too quick though, ducking and slashing at Cap's torso, catching him just above the kidneys, and although Cap's reflexes were enough to stop himself being impaled, he was left with a pretty nasty flesh wound... Logan went for the kill, his rage taking over him, but Cap was quick enough to react, bringing the edge of the shield across in a hard swing, catching Logan on the side of the face, sending him sprawling... it was mere seconds before Logan was back on his feet, and Cap could see in his eyes the animalistic rage that was threatening to take full control...
Blood pouring from his wound, Cap didn't flinch; he stood tall, even though it hurt like hell...
"Not bad, Soldier..."
"Likewise... but you know its gonna take a lot more than a shield to take me down, don't ya?"
"You really don't think I’m THAT stupid, do you?"
"Well Rogers, for a-" he interrupted himself, screaming in pain as the repulsor blast knocked him across the lawn... "Son of a," Logan groaned as he tried to push himself up...
"Intensify replusor blast output by fifteen percent," Stark said calmly as he hit Logan with another blast...
Logan lay almost comatose on the ground, his skin on fire...
"That takes care of that... you ok Captain?"
"Yes, but I’m not the one you should be worrying about," he said nodding past Tony... as soon as he turned, he saw what Cap had been looking at... it was Colossus, barrelling toward him like an express train...
The first blast hit Colossus' shoulder, but it didn't slow him down nearly enough... "Intensify replusor blast output by twenty percent," he said, almost starting to panic... the blast hit colossus, and although it hurt, it didn't stop the Russian giant, who was too angry to feel the pain, even with the smell of burning metal coming from his chest... cap's shield was next, and it literally bounced of Colossus' head, having almost no effect...
"Tony?"
"Just a sec, I- good god..." was all he could muster as the Sentry flew past at breakneck speed, grabbing Colossus and heading up into the air...
Sentry held Colossus tight as they flew, already past the speed of sound and accelerating...
"Get off of me," Colossus roared, his fists pounding Sentry's face, but to little effect.
"You really should stop that, I’m trying to fly here..."
Peter looked around; they were already outside of New York, heading out over the ocean...
to be concluded...
