Why - The poor bastard has very little to do with the actual designs of the autobots or the script does he* ? If we want to bash someone then let's bash grade a douchebag Don Murphy .
*At least to my knowledge , of course i know very little about the movie industry....

Bay pretty much designed it. Don was there to make it even worse.

no you are right he didn't design them per say. but he did okay them. usually they have designers/ scriptwriters that are fans of the franchise. like x-men. the writers were real big geeks of x-men and wrote the 3rd one how they thought it should be done. so as fans i think we trust them. however i don't know who the designers were i mean Murphy and bay aren't just sat there with paper and pen. writing design and building the damn things on their own... but if you are to bash bay ( i don't like him but i respect him for taken on this film) remember that he didn't design them on his own.
well you dont hafto look at the silver xmas tree megatron that much in the movie, just a rumour but he's probably just gonna be in the third act of the movie and thats it. thats why "starscream" is a freakin tank (by tank i mean huge, not literally a tank, just big enough to take on prime and then some)
And of course we would have to start calling this movie T.I.N.O, if we haven't already.
Also, I know this comment is a bit late but I noticed all the talk about Megatron earlier. I think his best form to date has been Galvatron. I think the self standing cannon thing was his best representation.
Even though I loved G1, I always had a problem with him transforming into that little gun that needed to be held by another decepticon. And I also thought the newer Armada tank form was a bit much, a tad bit overkill if you ask me. Plus there was already a decepticon that transformed into a tank back in G1. I forgot his name but he was just like Astrotrain. He could transform into 3 things and one of those things was a tank.
So, I'm assuming all this talk about Murphy means you guys have been going to his board and letting him have it. I hope so.
For the record, I beleive they are both to blame.

oh we also have to remember that Bay had the 10 listed things where he said that this movie will not be based on any particular series, so i guess looking on the positive, the looks of the characters could possibly be looked at as, a new season of transformers w/ a new look, like armada, and fox's robots in disguise...
AND we've seen plenty pics of bumble, he has the big eyes, gas tank cover mouth...and he has what i call a 'licence plate belt buckle'
