If you have a decent draft strategy with solid 2nd options, you shouldn't have a problem.

We'll bump it back to about 5PM for this first round of the draft for those you doing the 9-5. It's Eastern US Time, by the way. If it works out, we'll continue in that time slot....if not, it'll just move again.

Sounds fair.... but there would have to be a time limit on it as well.... you can't have everyone waiting 5 extra hours for accl (or whoever) to show up to the second draft

You could say: whoever drafts last in the first round drafts first in the second round.... but they have to do so within 1-2 hours of the thread opening otherwise they lose their place in the queue

well you and i like it -- i like the 45 min time limit as well. for those complaining -- not every team CAN be hanging around at the exact moment the thread opens. is it their fault? especially with the different time zones. a reverse order in rd2 would help ensure a little parity and those with other things to do won't get shafted just BECAUSE they have other things to do. first come first serve to rd1 ensures you get the best character overall and rewards those who can make it. why not try and even things up a bit in the second round?

haha....well the way I see it? Scoobs can do that for the third draft. But Val has control over the second one...and he doesnt like it either 😛

Eh. I think we're coddling the participants too much at this point. Why, in my day, you had to trudge through the BS comics warehouse, all five miles of it, uphill both ways to make your draft picks! Seriously, though, life's not fair sometimes. Scoob has been hampered the whole time he's been here by being in such a different time zone, but he won one (or was it two?) of these things. This kind of thing just encourages people to look a bit harder and maybe introduce a somewhat obscure character.

first time i ever heard an appeal for fairness (not on my own behalf, btw, kahn will be there at 5pm even though i likely can't make it) referred to as coddling.

and the reason life's not fair is because we generally don't have control over so many important aspects of it and are subject to whatever it hands us. this case is much different -- we have COMEPLETE control over this situation. and just because something always HAS been done a certain way, doesn't mean it's the only way -- OR the best way. 😉

whatever way we choose, i'm honestly fine with it -- hell, maybe ALL the teams are able to easily make the 5pm draft, who knows! i just think the way i suggested is the more fair way and really haven't heard any logical reason against it. it basically comes down to do we want to try and make it fair (the glc of the kmc battle cry) or leave it in a way that is obviously not entirely fair?

Actually, Val's in charge of round 2 and scoob for round 3. I'll leave it to them how they want to do it.

My own vote would be just for first come, first served...for all 3 rounds. Hell, back in the day we didn't even know a day. I remember Evangel just popping up out of the blue and making draft threads. Frustrating...but kinda hilarious.

She disappeared right after the semi finals as well (or was in the middle of the semis?)

and val, getting first choice should give you the best character (unless you've really forgotten or overlooked someone, always a possibility) but that does NOT necessarily give you the best odds of winning. that depends on how you debate.

like i said, whatever is fine by me as i'm not affected one way or the other by the decision. 😛
