Isnt this what the church did? Is this not what you are doing?

I could put my trust in the Mandaean Ginza where Jesus is a false prophet who perverted the words and works of our beloved teacher . . . . John the Baptizer.

I hope so..........

There better be...though I get a creepy feeling im refering to a different kind of hope.

I have often wondered the same thing about this topic! It is funny how the non-believers are typically the first ones to bring up the subject of God! I have found this to be true within my own family. My non-christian family members are the first to start the conversation about God! Huh, I'll have to ask them once why that is! I don't mind anyway, gives opportunity to discuss it! 馃槃

You know why they bring it up???? It's because they are older and have looked into things...........They are trying to encourage you to think!!

Oh so that's why you're so tight up... You're off drugs and alcohol.

HAHA! NOT! I know this because I am OLD! I think they do this because they too are searching the truth (GOD). THey are smart people and they feel convicted and know that they are missing something!

If we are SO missing something, then why don't we arbitrarily paste over these "holes" with fake plaster like relgion?

Theres an abundance of truth in the world...nothing imo points to god.

Your statement is in complete ignorance of what we (at least I am)

While I respect your view Alliance, I also think that nothing imo points to God's not existing either.

I do agree that marcu is off in his characterization of the non-religious population. I think there is a drive to find the origin and cause of things. One group decides upon God, while the other decides on pure nature (I would use the term science, but I think that religion and science can mix. Nature is the better choice I think.) I think in many cases it is an absolute nature/nurture debate, with the universe as child, and God the debated issue. Did a God influence existence? Or did it develop on its own, no intervention from outside?

While I used the term drive, please do not take it as my stance that such things are innate. I am a strong supporter of the experience teaches school of thought. This "drive" is somehow learned imo.

Define "old", will you. And then just contemplate if the answer presented up there couldn't be the truth... Do you have the guts to do that?

Religion playes a HUGE role in the modern world. And unfortunately not always a progressive and humanitarian one. So your relatives may simply be searching for answers to, say, why the Catholic Church refuses to raise its ban on contraceptives etc.
The truth is always good. But you have to prove God exists before you can even begin to claim he/she/it is the truth.

I am an atheist and I miss nothing in my life spiritually. Perhaps you should accept that people are different, and not everyone needs religion?
