Why is Return of The Jedi Terrible? Its Great

well special effects wise its great, but storywise its just horrible. It went against EVERYTHING the other two films ANH and ESB accomplished.Unlike the first two films,it was just not at all believeable,it felt much more like a comicbook than a movie. It had its moments but its just not near as good as the first two original films.

How did it go against ANYTHING the previous films accomplished? I'm actually curious.

And just because the mood was different than the previous films, how does that automatically make it bad? ESB was drastically different from ANH, yet it was an excellent movie. I like it better even.

And since when has Star Wars tried to be ultra realistic or believable?

Lets see theres the ewoks, that whole stupid Luke and Leia being brothers and sisters thing,Lucas clearly made that up just so Han could get the girl.Leia dancing around like a slave girl-come on this is a star wars movie,no original theme song, cheesy lines, the storm troopers getting beat up by a bunch of ewoks-yeah right, way too predicatable-everybody knew they would blow up the death star, the acting was atrocious,by the time they did Jedi,it was so obvious the actors were tired of the movie, you could tell the way they delivered their lines at times that the actors were just anxious to get it over with and did not want to be there, that was not the case at all in the two previous films, then the way the whole thing ended with Darth Vader standing around with Yoda and Ben Kenobi drinking a couple of beers having a jolly old good time.just plain silly, what a horrible ending to it all.At that point they should have had Vader say to Ben-Hey Ben remember that time I killed you? Ben-ah yeah, that still kinda smarts vader,I want a rematch. 😆 corny corny corny.Even the cast agreed that Jedi was easily the weakest of the original trilogy.Unlike the first two,it received a lot of wrath from the reviews as well with just good reason.

Old School. I just really didn't find it that funny.

ok the Ewoks are annoying but after Jar Jar they are almost acceptable, leia NEVER dances, sure some of the dialogue aint so hot but the dialogue between Luke,Vader and Palpatine is exelllent,no theme song?? i dont get you but the soundtrack has moments of brilliance,Vader redeemed himself and as far fetched it would be for Yoda and Obi to forgive him so soon this is the end of the trilogy and it has to have a some kind of a happy ending this aint a Cronenberg pic it was a kids pic and given what weve now seen in the prequels it all ties up nicley.
and even though Vader did cut down Obi wan he let him...he switched his sabre off to let Luke carry on his destiny

First off, half the stuff you're complaining about are things you MADE UP. Leia never dances at all during the entire film. She wears different attire because she is a slave to Jabba; that's it. And Lucas didn't make up the brother/sister thing so Han could get the girl, he would have had no need to do that. Han could have gotten Leia regardless. I actually like the fact that they are brother and sister.

And so what if you knew good was going to triumph over evil? That's the point of Star Wars. It's a classic good versus evil tale and good will always prevail. The dialogue wasn't any worse in this movie than in the previous films. Nuff said.

Harrison Ford was the ONLY actor who was even remotely tired of doing the films. And he still acted well.

The 3 ghosts of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Yoda were necessary to show that Vader redeemed himself. Again, I thought this was a cool scene. Obviously you were on acid when you watched it, because what you described is drastically different from what actually happened.

Oh, and yeah, the Ewoks were slightly annoying. That's your only point. Good job.

Fight Club was good, Sin City was good... in fact, i like all those movies you listed, though you have to admit Crash pisses you off sometimes...

They were ok but not as great as people say they were. If you like those movies I listed that's fine, obviously. You think I'm crazy - yahoo. I think your a duma** - anyways, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I agree completely - even Ricky Bobby couldn't win him over for me (and that was his best showing yet IMO.)

I mostly agree. I liked Old School though...and I liked his part in Wedding Crashers.

He ruined an otherwise hilarious movie IMO.

Black Hawk down - a film with nothing but propaganda , unrealistic armaments (They must have used over 30-40 RPG's ...no way can a third world milita get that many damn RPG's) stupid accents and annoying military jargon.

That movie followed fact about as accurately as is possible considering the restrictions the U.S. MIlitary puts on what is allowed to be protrayed in film. The "jargon" was good (I know first hand), the weapons were very realistic on both sides, and so were the vehicles. Well done film, well told story given it's inherent limitations.

That movie "Amagaining" with bruce willis and the thing destorying the earth. Most stupid movie I ever seened.jm

well seeing as how you didnt carefully read what i said just shows how you cant be taken seriously.I didnt SAY that scene happened with them sitting around as ghosts happened with all that dialogue,I was saying they might as well had them sitting around partying and drinking beer and saying those lines at that point since the movie was so corny and dumb anyways.I can just see how they would have been with each other at that time-hey Ben,remember that time I killed you? yeah damn that lightsaber scar still hurts. LOL.pay attention,I AM NOT SAYING THAT HAPPENED.I am just saying at that point they might as well have added that it in,the movie was so corny at that point it would have fit right in. 😆

True Leia wasnt dancing as a slave girl, there was another slave girl doing that and thats what I meant,I just confused the two,its been so long since I seen that movie thats an easy mistake to make especially since I have tried so hard over the years to forget that crapfest movie. And that was incredibly stupid, again Leia DRESSED up as a slave girl was corny as hell.thats such an 80's thing,Dude its so obvious he made up that moronic Luke and Leia brother and sister thing, that was the most idiotic and corniest thing of all in the movie.I mean here Luke is coming across this message of a girl that he thinks is so beautiful and gorgeous that he falls head over heels and love with who just HAPPENS to be his sister that he goes off to rescue? thats plain moronic screenwriting and not at all believeable. That just ruined the whole thing.I was telling my best friends parents about that and they were telling me the same thing how when they saw that movie his dad said his wife whispered in his ear-what do you think of that????? My best friends parents like me were shocked beyond belief Lucas could have been so stupid to come up with as idiotic like that.Wrong,Mark Hamill as well said he did not like the way Jedi turned out,Irvin Kirshner who directed Empire strikes back also expressed his grave dissapointment with the movie, the dialogue thanks to the main actors horrible delivery of the lines at times was awful and not at all believeable, the first two previous films the actors were spot on ALL THE TIME in their line deliverys and they were great,in Jedi, they were not.there were times when their delivery of the lines was just horriblee.

Plus you ignored my points about the stromtroopers.I also forgot to mention that compared to Vader,it made no sense for him to be fearful of the emperor, other than being ugly looking,he was a short runt compared to Vader so it was laughabe that Vader could be intimidated by a short runt like him.He should have been just as tall if not more taller than Vader was to be somebody to be fearful of.The first two films were not predicatable,THIS one was, also it suffered from dejavue.I mean he had already faught Darth Vader and the death star scene at the end had people saying to themselves-Hadnt I seen all this before? and like I said, unlike the first one,the death star battle was predicatable and you knew what the outcome would be.anyways your not going to change my mind that it was idiotic and stupid and does not measure up to the greatness of ANH and ESB -"but like I said, the movies unlike the first two,got blasted by most movie critics with good reason, that you cannnot change " and I wont change your opinion so theres really no point in continuing this discussion.

no doubt that compared to jar jar and that stupid looking darth maul, the ewoks are much more acceptable,LOL but still.Like I said the delivery of lines by Luke Leia and Han was just atrocious at times and thats unacceptable. It was clear they were gettign tired and bored with it by that time.

Arguing with you is pointless. Most of your points and reasons behind go something like this: "Well, you see, I didn't like this scene *insert perfectly normal scene* because it was...... *wait for it*...... CORNY CORNY CORNY. It was just so lame and corny. If I have to see something cornier in my life, I don't know what I'll do. How could something be so CORNY?!"

What am I supposed to say to that? I can't make you change your horrible, terrible opinions. I've tried to point out that you're wrong and that's all I can do.

i would have to say napolaylen dynamyte with jon header

movie was garbage. my friend bought it and like 6 of us watched it, and we thought it was the biggest waste of our time and life.

dude aint funny, he puts my ass to sleep with his slow ass tones

i'll probably get linch mobbed for this, but quintin tarantino movies, never been a fan probably never will be, they seem overly repeative and overuse techniques that are good now and then, not all the time.

two exceptions :
Four rooms - the bellhop MADE that movie, he's the only reason i could manage to finish watching it. awesome acting and facial expressions.
dusk till dawn - Cheech Marin's *ahem* speech, ranks up there in the top 3 all time things ever layed down on film/audio

"Return of the Jedi" would have the best movie ever if there were no Ewoks. Because of the Ewoks it is only the second best movie ever after "The Empire Strikes Back".

We have just discussed our favorite scenes from all the Star Wars movies - most of us have a scene from Return of the Jedi.

Tarantino movies: No one of them are fantastic movies - some of them are okay to watch and thats it. Pulp Fiction got some great scenes, but as a complete movie it is nothing special.

The Notebook...just did not get into it
