Vitiate's supposed ability to destroy planets by himself is to be taken with a grain of salt. Secondly, if Meetra didn't save Revan (where she actually could have killed the Emperor himself), he would have died. he put up a decent fight against the Emperor, but I don't see how he'd put up a better one against palpatine. also, there's no documentation of Revan ever using the Thought bomb on his own, so we cant assume he can use it, same as the thing about vitiate destroying planets by himself.
ah yes, the FLS. Would such an attack come to bear upon Palpatine? I mean he does have mastery over force maelstrom, and (as far as I know) is much faster than anyone on the hoT strike team. Plus I think He would be able to keep Vitiate from using such an attack, since it takes precious seconds to charge.
excuse me, what? A simple "Lol" is an adequate reponse? Do you even know what the force maelstrom ability does? He creates an impenetrable barrier of force energy, note the word "impenetrable", while hurling "lightning grenades" and bolts of lightning simultaneously. Sidious's lightning has left foes as charred husks, and it's useless?
Vitiate tanked his own lightning getting thrown back at him. Likewise an Imperial Guard was able to nullify Revan's powerful TK just by drawing off of Vitiates power, so it doubt that will work either. Force Maelstrom is simply a combination of the two and likely takes time to set up. His best bet is lightsabers but Vitiate has dealt with those tactics before.

... on a nexus, and it was only one small bolt. Ok, has vitiate ever faced anyone nearly as fast or skilled with a lightsaber as Palpatine? Didn't think so. Ok, I guess getting blasted with the most powerful lightning in the mythos, you're still perfectly capable of directing a FLS.
Vitiate is directly noted as more of a scholar than a warrior, and for good reason. He gained his immense power through the use of many rituals, and has never even been noticed to use a lightsaber. If he was defeated by the HoT (although vitiate was weakened to an extent, he was also on arguably the most powerful dark side nexus in the galaxy), Palpatine can also beat him.
