2) When you say plausible you are analyzing it in a scientific way, and scientifically it is very plausible(i. e. probable) but it is not proved. Heliocentrism is true, and the church denied it too. Fortunately later observations allowed people to see the truth.
A theory is not necessarily something not proved, there are proved theories and not proved theories.
I think there is people who thinks that life happened by chance, but evolution is not saying that. That is only a possible interpretation of the meaning of the theory of evolution. Using evolution to try to make the point that life happened by chance is an extrapolation.

However, how these simple building blocks go together under a variety of conditions is so vast, that we are still finding new arrangement (molecules or chemical compounds) today. This is a natural process that has been going on for billions of years. Human life evolved because there is no difference between living and non-living at the level of the sub-atomic. Life is a chemical byproduct of complex chaotic chemistry.
