Yes, so true katelovespirate - that's what I said either on this thread or another one - that is a sex-craved kiss - a kiss that cannot be helped - because Jack is just so damn sexy from the moment he is holding the compass and returns to the ship, picks up the gun - the way the shot shows him in his sexy coat and he is surveying the ship - OMG - he looks so sexy and manly - none of that drunken, geity hands stuff going on - Just jack - I think this is when the REAL Jack is revealed. All that other stuff - is Jack trying to hide his pain. Lots of time when people are vunerable and feel unloved - they put on this air - happy go lucky - just take on a wacky personality to overcome their inner desire to be loved and wanted - It may be that Elizabeth could be the first person that's every really truly believed in Jack/

thats so beautiful, tigers. gosh. so lovely. oh Jack. thats what i love about him- those lovely moments where he looks vulnerable, even though they are few and far between. yes he is so SEXY and MANLY and wonderful.... and i think Liz sees him better than anyone, sees his flaws, and sees the best of him.

i just can imagine this one so clearly: Jack, suddenly understanding that he really cares for Liz and he has put her through a lot the past year or so, and knowing his lifestyle will always be precarious, tries to convince her he doesnt really love her. They are close and he has that look on his face- where you dont know what he is thinking, and he is saying "i'm sorry darling, you always knew I was a scoundrel." and she's like "Jack..." and he's like, "I just want my freedom, love. I'm truly sorry if i hurt you." and she's like, "So what now? We just walk away and pretend nothing happened?" And he's like, "Now you think about what you really want, what you've always wanted..." (he means Will) he walks off, with a look of pain on his face, because he really wants her. Then she looks after him bitterly, "What I've always wanted?" She closes her eyes for a moment, as the song "pirates life for me" plays...
but of course, this beautifully intense moment is followed by scenes where they DO in fact get together LOL

Love that- cuz the more they deny their feelings for each other, the hotter and sexier their scenes become.. I sure hope disney has some more flirtatious scenes between Jack and Liz in next movie---

In the fictional realm of Pirates of the Caribbean, Captain Jack's real name was Jack Smith and he was born in India on October 25. yeah I read that earlier and I couldn't believe it - cuz, this is the truth, I had already - in my fantasy- figured out that Jack once was employed by the East India Trading Co. and something went bad between and Cutler - thus the reason for the branding each other and stuff...So I too was excited to read that history tidbit....

"As Sparrow predicts, Elizabeth's final monumental scene in Dead Man's Chest involves her acting very self-serving and pirate-like. Elizabeth realizes that the only thing that Davy Jones really wants is Jack Sparrow to settle his debt. So, in order to save herself, Will, and the rest of the Black Pearl's crew from relentless pursuit by a vindictive Jones, Elizabeth kisses Jack passionately, very effectively distracting him as she chains him to the mast of his sinking ship, forcing him to stay and face Jones and the Kraken (the sea creature from nautical folklore, which Davy Jones commands in the film) while she and the others escape. This plan however was flawed as Jack had earlier left the Black Pearl and the Kraken did not follow him; the monster continued to tear apart the ship. With a smile on his face, Jack looks at Elizabeth after the smoldering kiss and simply utters, "Pirate." Jack manages to free himself, but goes down fighting as the Kraken consumes him and sinks the Black Pearl.

hahaha. BTW why is Will so cranky in this film, seriously? He is either being cranky toward Jack or harsh to his Dad or angry with Lizzie, the only time he is even somewhat happy/funny is when he is drugged or having a concusion. lighten up dude. hehehe.
i have to say after all this, i am pretty much still split down the middle on what I think is going to happen, which i presume, is exactly what Disney intended. The whole first film built up the reasons why Liz should marry her childhood sweetheart/person she's always loved, Will Turner, who in turn has had it for her forever, and proved himself to her a thousand times. BUT the second film tears all that away and builds up a billion theories while Liz and JACK should be together... there are credible arguments on both sides.
Now, of course i WANT liz to be with Jack, but it still seems fairly likely she will go with Will. But DIsney knows that the audience will leave with a somewhat flat taste in their mouth if they explain all their new evidence away and go with the golden boy. ya know? yeah you all know. hahaha.
