I checked the reports for a death threat, however, there was none. Only if you contacted every mod in private, you can speak of no mod being willing to issue a warning. Again, you didn' t read the post in question, how can you be so certain it was in jest? Anyhow, I' m glad I got Raz' opinion on the matter which, obviously, settled it.
I didn't report it because the mod of the forum it happened in, and two additional globals, saw it happening, I didn't need to report it. It was public and on an open thread. Nobody did anything about it, he didn't even get a warning. Well, he did, but he broke it and was still allowed to change his abuse post. I had been banned in the meantime.
Secondly, how can I be so sure it was in jest? Because I have seen mods and posters alike be confused by the way Bardock conducts himself. I admit he's not the easiest person to read but even if what he said WASN'T in jest, I will lay my membership on the fact that people have been let off worse.

There are issues which are inevitably to the moderator' s discretion, and where it is nearly impossible to come to a consensus. It wouldn' t be so hard if it was all black and white. I' m wondering how anyone of you would do, if you were in our shoes.
So quit if you can't handle it. I admit that I don't want to be a mod, that I wouldn't be able to remain impartial and that it's not a position I can be trusted to be in when asked to adhere to the rules. Moreover, I enjoy this site, and I have seen how being a mod changes people.
Furthermore, it is actually black and white. The role of a moderator is to enforce the rules, not place themselves above them or decide where or how they apply. It's a moderators job to read the rules and act accordingly toward anyone breaking them or committing certain offenses. The problem is, as you said, different people have different opinions of what "accordingly" is, but that's not how it should be. If you are a mod, you should ban people who you see committing bannable offenses, and if you aren't sure, look into the matter. It's like an indecisive goal in football; If you can't be 100% sure that someone scored, why give the goal? If you can't be 100% sure that someone deserves to be banned, then don't ban them. You shouldn't ban them just because you can't all decide on a course of action.
I will repeat my question; We are not allowed to pick and choose what rules we follow, so why are mods allowed to place themselves above the rules and pick and choose what they obey and what they ban for?

i see some people get away with constant flaming, trolling, obscenity, off topic nonesense, and things of the sort. i have experienced this from both sides depending on the mod. i have been blatantly favored and i have been blatantly unfavored.
but all this is meaningless to discuss since we're all human and make errors/commit hypocrisy. anyone who claims otherwise most likely excells at hypocrisy. the point im getting at is selected other members would have been fairly warned and the ban was unnecessary. edit post>>>pm warning>>>bardock ceases obscenity and if not he's banned>>>problem solved>>>this discussion/issue is rendered nonexistant. regardless of what bardock said, he was not warned.

Um, I neither like nor dislike you...I think I have maybe made 3 posts directed to you ever? Certainly not enough to decide if I like or don't like someone.
Originally posted by Alpha CentauriI agree. I accept what i did was a bannable offence. I regret what i did and believe it was childish etc. I accept that it was the only way for the mods to go. Digi actually sent me a reasonably friendly PM to tell me i would probably be temp banned. However, some mods don't act so friendlily and act above evryone else. Honestly. I won't name anyone becaue... well... I'd get banned. But the best mods enforce the rules as instructed but actually join in in the main forum. However, others just act above that and ignore the fact that they're basically members with power and responsibilities. 😉 Ok, i used bad examples and said that wrong, but hey... 🙂
Well if you actually commit an bannable offense so blatant that there is no other way out, then fair enough, you deserve it.The problem is, "Arguing with mods" is a bannable offense. I.E: We are human and can be wrong, but you aren't allowed to put your point of view across, cos we're mods.

Originally posted by Alpha CentauriHe reported himself and was banned!? i reported myself for arguing with AJ then PMed storm and asked when I would get my ban warning...
I actually know now why Bardock was banned, and I think it's rather stupid. He did what he did in humour and even reported himself, the fact that it was taken seriously seems a bit silly to me.There are people on the boards who do worse and actually mean it.

... she gave me a perma-ban warning! 😠

I agree. He told me the same thing, and was quite literally laughing at it, and yet he was banned. He has never maliciously, in my opinion, done anything to anyone to hurt them, and yet, here we sit talking about his banning. Seems kind of odd to me.
