Mist's not really a Sock, he just Ended his account when he reached the same number of posts as Slip, so now he made a new one.

I know the term 'troll', but the only thing I know about socks is that the patent office wouldn't give me a patent for my "Sock on a String" invention...

My guess would be a 'sock' is a current member who changes usernames... 😮‍💨

Troll and sock are different terms, and sock would definitely be used elsewhere. Probably a lot.
