Raevynn scrunched up her nose, her way of displaying a bit of mock anger. She retrieved the crackers he had knocked from her grip and set them down in front of him.
"Ya know, If your gonna have an attitude like that you're not gonna get far." She laughed, looking up to see Wise stumble through the set of doors. "Besides, looks like your not the only one who's late."
"I assure you, 041, there are no such instruments in this particular facility. You'll be out of harms way in here. Now please, do take a seat." Siddartha spoke in a calming voice.
As soon as he was finished, a huge holographic image flashed to life at the far end of the class room. It was a peaceful meadow of long grass, moving in the wind in such a way that it reminded Raevynn of the waves in the lake she used to live near.
"Sparta," Siddhartha began to explained. Already Raevynn had lost interest and gulped down her entire carton of milk.
The awe inspiring glow of Reach, housed in the Epsilon Eridani star system, washed over and into the small craft. The green blue and white colors of the planet, seemingly made of light caused a vast aura to cast itself out into space. The Lt and the Corporal both shrugged it off, the sight was nothing new.
Axel walked to the controls and stared out of the cockpit. "This must be Reach?" He asked. "I assume so...it's the same class of planet as you hear in the news. A lot like Earth...and Reach is the homeworld of ONI HQ and a huge military research planet. Very good place for ... Spartans, as you called them."
"Bright kid." The Lieutenant said.
"The glow it has, all planets reflect some light. My home world did that, I was up in space around it a few times and thought I should look at what causes the pretty glow. Reach is a very rocky planet no? With all that rock there would be more reflective surface, more glow."
"Kid your starting to scare me." The Lieutenant said.
"Hey.." Axel said suddenly and spun around. "Several years ago a string of kids were either found missing, or found with bad genetics... I know UNSC wouldn't just take people, ONI would try to hide it. Clones...dummmies maybe? I'm not sure. Is it related somehow?"
"Corporal shut him up!" The Lieutenant barked. "He sees things from the inside out! He knows why we took him and can connect to previous things. I take it you're not only an adaptive learner, you dont forget things do you?"
"No, I forget almost anything I don't think is important, but if it's worth knowing I hold onto it."
"OK kiddo, you are scaring the big Lieutnant. Time to stop dat now."
Raevynn yawned and hugged her knees tightly against her chest. "Don't be sorry, guy. We're all in this togther, remember?"
She rested her chin atop her knees and watched half mindedly as an ancient armored man raised a glistened sword.
The hologram would have normally held her attention, but she was just too tired. Siddhartha was blabbering on about how this warrior was a Spartan, and they where trained as babies. Somehow she found the thought of babies with swords to be a bit frightening.
Travis sat in the back of the room watching the Hologram, and was able to draw parralels between the Spartans and his own upbringing. He glanced around the room and looked at his other classmates. For a split second he wondered where they were all from and why had they been taken.
Travis turned his attention back to the hologram and became thoroghly engrossed in the lesson.
Raevynn smirked. "Imagine a baby doing that!" She replied to the two boys as the holographic spartan impaled an enemy soldier through the head with a wooden spear. A battle between two armies was now underway, and it looked as if the Spartans were winning.
Nearby, Zeke let out a soft chuckle. "Stupid guys. How can a stick kill them so easily."
"I can." Kage said to Wise and then smiled as he began to feel warm inside. "Thank you. By the way my name is Kage." He said and began to pop his Knuckles. And turned back to the Projector as he watched a Armored, Tall, Ancient, Man hold up a smooth, sharp sword. He put his hand to his eyes slowly and wiped some crust from them. His stomach growled loudly as he thought about the Crackers she had offered. Some warm, white Saliva dripped from his mouth. He quickly put his hand back to his mouth wipping it away. A thought pictured in his hand as he watched his new born baby sister swing a sword around. He closed his eyes and giggled as his eyes glistened. And got watery and tears ran down the side of his cheeks. They felt warm and when he licked them they were salty, yet satisfying for how he felt.

He watched carefully the first spartan into battle, he has yet to been touched even being the first of 300 to end up in a 300 vs. 1000 match. It almost reminded him of himself he usually likes to speed ahead of things even if it is dangerous
"Nice to meet you Kage, well actually its nice to miss anyone without an electric stick here, my name is josh but most people call me wise, wow I wonder how the first guy is still alive?"
"Hungry?" Raevynn said, offering them some crackers she'd snatched from a nearby boy. He looked as if he'd had enough to eat anyways.
By now the Spartans had already changed the odds of the battle. Even though they were outnumbered in the beginning, their enemies had already started to run away.
Thank god. Class was almost over.
Kage's hands lashed out at the Crackers. He quickly swipped them away and began to stuff them in his mouth. He chewed as fast as he could and soon the Crackers were gone. "Thank you." He said and licked his lips. Kage giggled at Wise. "I know what you mean. But do you know what a Hawk is yet? Why do they call you Wise. Most people call me Ichigo for some reason. So call me that." He said smileing and wiped his tears away. "I wonder if i can take on one thousand people." He said and began to picture himself swinging a Giant sword bigger then the Sear Tower around. And killing everyone. Wow. It would be so cool! He said to himself and continued smileing as he thought about it. The began to think about Mendez in girls clothes. He started giggleing softly and quietly.
"Ya sure thanks"
Some kid beside him nudge him in the elbow and began to raise his hand. He knew he was about to tell then, he remembered what his friend did to him before. Josh nudged him in his elbow to and the kid responded with another nudge, and immediatly wise fell out of his chair and landed on his elbow to make it look like he was knocked down by the kid and yelped in pain.
"All sealed. God gamn this room is hotter than a honey moon hotel! Oh, Lieutenant, you're clear for exit." The Ensign waved down through the glass overhang at the docked Corvette.
"Understood." The Lieutenant said. He turned around, and stood up. His uniform was mostly black, his rank displayed with obvious show. Over twenty medals lined his chest, only 4 were doubles. "Corporal." He barked, "Lets get this done."
The ODST, clad in his dress clothes, which were dark grey, and his infantry hat turned as well, and stared at the medals for a second. "Oly' crap." He said, "You never told me you was a fightin' boy! Look at dem!" You musta killed fifty rebels with your fists!"
"Close, not quite. You're not to bad yourself, lets move."
The ODST looked at his own medals, only four. Two silver nebula for bravery, one red comet for heroic action, and a stardust cluster for performing in extreme circumstances. For a Corporal that was exceptional, but this Lieutenant was something else. "Well kiddo we best we going now..."
"Yes, lets." The Lieutenant led them out of the hangar. "The other subjects are in briefing now, the AI is teaching them. We head there after we get this squirt in uniform."
