Halo: Spartan III

Raevynn lay down in front of a patch of wires. Even with the light of the glow stick illuminating everything she needed to see, she still had no idea what to look for. She grabbed a hand full of wires and started to pick at them, searching for something that didnt look right.

"Jacob, I have to admit that I dont know anything about any of these wires. Maybe we should ju-" Raevynn stopped her whispering as she came across something that would stand out even to an idiot. A wire cut clean in half.

She let go of the wire and reached for her waist, her hand hovering just over her side arm. Raevynn's eyes darted franticly around the elevator shaft for any sign of life. Something must have been up here in order to cut these wires. And whatever it was had a very sharp weapon with them.

"Jacob have a look at this." She said quietly, tugging at his arm with one hand, and retrieving a roll of electrical tape with the other. "Something's been here recently, maybe you should tape that back together... We need to work quickly."

Jacob grabbed the tape. If somethinghad been up here they were in big danger. Reaching down he sees the cut wire. He removes some of the rubber coating so he can make sure the metal is connected. Then he takes the tape and binds them together. Almost immediatly the elevator kicked back into life and Jacob got flung on his back from the jolt of the elevator going up.

*Parker sighed and smiled. They were gonna make it out alive. Though at this point he felt really dizzy and slid down against the elevator shaft to try to stop his vision from skidding around the elevator shaft.*

*Once they reached the top, he pulled himself up and lead the way over to where they should be picked up. A battle had been here, but had ended. Covenant and Rebel bodies lay around the entire docking bay.* "Now we wait..guard the door and make sure nothing get's in." *He sat down against a crate and saw Reach through the glass doors.*

"Here comes our ride..." *He saw two Pelicans closing in on the docking bay and entered a code which opened the door. Then the Pelicans flew in and landed, allowing the Spartans a chance to get on.* "Let's move!" *Parker signalled the others to move inside the Pelicans*

heeeeeey wait for me *runs out of the base and into the pelican*

((Don't worry, I checked in with Silent Wolf about this and she thought it was a good idea. This is a guest appearance only--I won't stay around for the rest of the RP, just for this mission.))

As the Spartans began to board the Pelican, the current occupants, a team of six people in black skinsuits similar to the Spartan's own, but with helmets that covered their heads entirely, obscuring their faces, blocked their way. A woman with a cold, commanding voice, standing in front of the other 5, spoke.

"And where do you think you're going, soldiers? We saw numerous skirmishes on our way in--the Choragus is not secure. Your mission is NOT complete."

One of the soldiers behind her spoke. He sounded alert and confident. Looking up from the handheld computer he was holding, he announced, "Ma'am, I'm reading both Covenant and rebel forces engaging one another and the remaining crew of the Choragus. Most of the sensors are still up, except where that explosion went off."

The woman in front nodded once. "I'm Colonel. . ." she paused, meaningfully. "Colonel Jane Doe. Blue Team. We're ODST. I'm assuming command of this operation--the defense of the Choragus. Who is your CO--we need to confer for a moment." She began to descend from the Pelican, followed by the other five members of Blue Team.

[Sweet, we could use someone to get this moving along.]

*Parker stepped forward* "I am, ma'am. Me and Commander Raevynn both. As you can see, I am in no condition to fight anymore. I leave my sqaud under your commands for the time being. If you want information on the current situation, talk to 116, Commander Raevynn."

*He turned to his squad* "Well men, this is where we part ways. I may not see you all for awhile, so obey Commander Raevynn and Colonel Jane's orders, no matter how dangerous they are. Good luck men." *He turned to the Colonel* "Keep them safe. I lost more than my share of relatives for the past 6 years, and I don't want to lose them either. Good luck to you aswell, Colonel." *He saluted to her and waited for his last orders of the day.*

The Colonel nodded to Parker, and took note of Parker's wounds. Pointing to one of the ODST behind her, she made a wrapping gesture with her hands and then pointed to Parker's missing arm. The man produced a cannister of biofoam as "Jane Doe" motioned to Raevynn to step outside the Pelican with her, and, not waiting to see whether she would follow or not, proceeded just far enough away to be out of ear-shot of those in the Pelican.

((Waiting for Silent Wolf now. . .))

*Parker walked off towards one of the Pelicans and sat in one of the seats closest to the cockpit. The ODST member motioned the Pelican to take off once he got inside. The Pelican clatteres slightly as the man walked in and sat down, strapping himself in and placing the canister containing Parker's severed arm in it on his lap.*

*As the Pelican's ramp shut closed and took off back to Reach, the man looked at Parker and asked* "How'd it come off?..The arm, I mean." *Parker looked at him* "Damned alien cut it off with some energy sword.." *The man made a gesture of a figure with his hands* "About 12 feet tall, muscular, wearing whitish armor with a weird shaped mouth and lots of teeth?" *Parker nodded, and the man continued* "Their called Elites. They're the Covenant's battle machine. They're armor has a shield that protects them from attacks for only a certain amount of damage. The one you faced was a Tactical Elite. They have a built in camouflage that helps them when chopping up enemies up close with their sword. Your lucky it was only your arm and not your head." *Parker gulped and looked down at the floor. The man smiled* "Hey, don't worry about it. You'll get used to them as you get older and go through some more training."

Jacob was helping to cover the hanger while the injured Spartans got on the Pelicans. After they had all gotten on and the ODST had taken his area he walked unto the Pelican with Parker on it.

"Take care of yourself Parker and get better" was all Jacob said to his Fellow Spartan but in his head he was doing much more praying for his fallen squadmates souls to find peace. For the injured ones he prayed for their speeding recovery. For the rest of them left to stay he prayed for their safety.

Jacob reached over in the Pelican and grabbed as much ammo as he could carry. After that he grabbed a cartrige and slapped into his sniper rifle parying for the enemies he was about to battle with and praying for God's forgivness for the tasks Spartan 086 was about to commit.

Jacob left the Pelican ready for his orders

Raevynn watched with sorrow and concern as her dead and wounded Spartans were loaded away into the pelicans. They would be leaving already, and to her it felt as if a part of her was leaving with those pelicans as well. Since she had been brought to Reach she had always been with her Spartan brothers and sisters, and here for the first time she was being separated from some of them.

As the young Spartan held back her building emotions, she listened to this Colonel speak. This womans words reminded her of cold steal. Everything she said was clear, and it was obvious that she meant business.

It was not untill Jane Doe said that she was taking over the mission that Raevynn fully realized what exactly was happening. Someone back at home didn't think she could pull this off on her own. Mendez must have sent these guys to help finish the mission, and Raevynn did not like this at all.

Raevynn nearly glared as the Colonel motioned for her. Although Raevynn had been taught to respect the chain of command, it still wasn't quite chizzled into her being.

After a slight pause, she took her first few steps, brushing past Jacob and giving him an imperceptible nod as if to tell him to watch out for the team.

Eventually Raevynn trotted over to Jane Doe, looking up and into that emotionless face plate and giving her the most serious facial expression one would ever see from someone so small.

"You called Colonel?"

*radios team* why did you FORGET ME! and the other marines!? *gets grumpy

When Raevynn came and stood with the Colonel, the woman was silent for a moment, gathering her thoughts. When she spoke, the ice in her voice was gone, and she had turned the "command tone" way down.

"We'll have to make this quick--every minute we're talking here is a minute the enemy is digging in and a minute the crew of the Choragus is being slaughtered. I was originally going to order your team to deal with the Covenant and to let us handle the rebels, but . . . that somehow doesn't feel right anymore. Something is drastically wrong with this op--and I don't mean the Covenant.

I was told we'd be pulling the Spartans out of the fire, and I jumped at the chance to pay them back--they've done it for us a few times. But you're . . . not the Spartans I thought we'd be assisting. I'd heard whispers about the S-III program. . . and it just seems too convenient that we were on the Antipathy, which was near enough to drop into normal space on a few minutes' notice out here in interstellar space when your team broadcast for an evac. . ." The Colonel trailed off for a moment, and then shook her head. She had a bit of a business-like tone when she resumed speaking.

"I'll leave it up to you. . . Spartan. Fighting the Covenant is a far cry from taking out a handful of rebels. And my orders concerning the rebels were to plant a tracker on thier ship and get them to break off and flee, not to eliminate them. The mission's changed. So which do you think your team is best suited for? Blue Team is primarily an anti-insurgent unit, but I'm the only one who hasn't had substantial experiance against the Covenant."

*Once at Reach, Parker was helped over to the medical room where Mendez was waiting. He smiled at the sight of the Spartan Commander, but it soon faded as he noticed he was missing an arm and it was in a cannister full of biofoam.* "Welcome back 115, how are things holding out for 116 and the rest?" *Parker sat down on the medical table and relaxed* "Last I checked, she almost bawled when she saw me and the others being taken away, but besides that I think she can handle herself alright." *Mendez chuckled* "Good, good..Well, let's give you a medical scan and see what we can do about that arm of yours."

*The test took a couple of minutes, and then Mendez spoke* "Well, vitals are fine. Nothing too bad, besides the arm issue. We can do either of two things. Try and sew that arm back on, or give you a newer, improved one." *Parker raised an eyebrow* "Improved?" *Mendez nodded* "Yes. In a couple of years, you all will have tests that will improve your muscle tissues, giving you more strength, speed, and life than any normal man. The new arm will have about a split amount of those features into it, so it doesn't kill you automatically. I'll give you a couple of minutes to decide."

*He then left Parker with a decision. Take his old arm, or take the new one?*

(Why does the RP always get good when I leave disgust is it cause I'm black? 😐 )

....

(uh Where am I 😖 )

[]You're with me! ^_^ The gimps and the dead guys just left. All us able bodied people are about to go kick some ass, so don't be sad my colored friend 🙂[]

Raevynn listened intently to what this Colonel had to say. Although she was the one in charge now, she was giving Raevynn a choice. This helped settled the Spartan's restless emotions. But now she had a decision to make. Her mission was to protect this ship's cargo from the rebels. Eliminating the rebels was her first instinct, but a quick memory of just how ruthless and tough those aliens were made her think twice. If her team couldn't handle these Covenant, then they were not Spartans. If they were not Spartans, then what purpose in life would they serve?

''Okay, Ma'am. Me and my squad will handle those Covenant. We might be a little shaken from earlier, but I know my men are up for the challenge." She replied, taking a deep breath as she prepared to jump back into battle mode. "Me and my Spartans will head towards the storage bay on this level. If the Covenant want to steal from the UNSC they'll have to get through us first."

Jacob was looking at the two talking. His eyes were amazing but his ears were only normal so he had no idea what was going on. He did see Raevynn get this determined look and he thought they were about to go in and fight.

"I thought you'd say that. I wouldn't expect anything less from a Spartan. I see you're operating as the sniper--here, every sniper I've had on my team insists on carrying one of these--" the Colonel unslung one of the combat knives she carried, and handed it with the sheath to the young Spartan. They returned to the others.

"Also, our weapons specialist assembled some modified gear for us specifically to use against the Covenant. I think it would work better in your hands, and we'll stick with what we're used to against the rebels." Colonel "Doe" motioned to the biggest of her team, who began to open a crate they had unloaded from the Pelican.

"Dese 'ere ah MA2C, modifie' wit smooth barrel an' loaded wit fletchette round. Five fletchette per round," the man began to explain in a heavy "Island" accent. "Dey a lot louder dan usual, but dey also better agains' light armor an' shields, an' not gonna damage de ship as much if you miss. Not dat I tink you gonna miss at all. I put dem in 75 round clips rater dan jus' 60, so you got a lot mo' firepower at de same weight. It perfec' for fightin' in a ship. I only brought 4, so you gonna have to share dem. Make sure you don' try an' swap de ammo out wit anoter gun--it not gonna work. Hey, let me know what you tink after we done, eh?"

Meanwhile, the rest of Blue Team had checked over their weapons and assembled their own gear. The Colonel quickly conferred with her team via closed audio transmissions, and they synced their data.

"Spartans, we're going to disappear for a bit, until we're through with those rebels. You might or might not be able to reach me on the comm, depending--but until we're through with those rebels, we don't exist. Blue Team, let's go dark and implement plan Alpha."

The first thing that happened is that Blue Team vanished from the tactical displays. Then the Colonel simply wasn't there, and within a few seconds, the rest of Blue Team had slipped into the shadows without a sound. An occasional flicker of movement could be seen by a keen observer, heading for one of the hangar's entrances to the rest of the Choragus.

(( * has no idea were to start posting* ((

((There were TWO Pelicans that came in, and Blue Team only jumped out of one. I wonder who/what was in the other one?

Hint hint...))
