After twenty painstakingly long minutes, her feet finally hit the sterile floor tile. She stretched her leg gingerly, wishing she hadn't bothered coming, and deciding next time she had her leg torn open, this would be a last resort. Maybe if it started oozing a green fungal infection she'd come again.
Her skin hurt from the stitches being jerked out of her face, in haste and without much care. Her leg, which had been almost bathed in alcohol, was still stinging. Another tiny reminder about the privilege of the good medical attention she’d receive if anything went wrong. Although Abbra benefited in one way, she had received a knee brace, which meant her leg wouldn't exactly give out anymore. Causing one of those annoying and not to mention embarrassing little spills on the dirty floor.
Stretching, she walked back to the cafeteria, although nobody she really wanted to make conversation with was in there. Gym time. Although by the time she reached the female locker room she had decided one thing was certain. She'd work on a sore leg when hell froze over twice. Slipping off a baggy sweatshirt and denim pants, she swapped them for a white beater and a pair of black mesh like pants.
Making her entrance into the gym was like going into the slaughter house. Her upper body strength was lacking and she was slipping in the ranks as every Spartan seemed to exceed all expectations, she wasn't one of the many and so Abbra considered herself an embarrassment. Improve wasn’t what Spartans were known for, and the fact that that was all she had to offer was shameful. A sick feeling in her stomach told her she was going to get a talking to by a trainer, or Mendez himself. So to add to her humiliation, he was there to possibly watch the handful of children train. Her worst fear was to let him down and it might just come to life.
Her usually positive strut had shrunk in to small, meek foot prints as she bolted across the floor and over to the weights. Which also proved to be a good stand to hide behind as she curled pathetic sums. At least she was alone, and nobody was there to watch, or laugh at her.
