Co-signed to the max!!While I dont like much nu-metal.I cant stand when people say that a certian metal band I like isnt metal because they are in a certain sub-genre.

Hate to break it to you guys but...Metal-core and Nu Metal are just as much metal as your Death Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, or Power Metal. Its all sub genres and they all have the word Metal in them for a reason. Because they are a form of metal.

Wrong. You have just passed the stupid little teenage metalhead wannabe test. Korn is extremely popular amongst metalheads and that is where are a large percentage of their popularity comes from. I also have first-hand experience because I play in a metal band and my guitar player is the guy that controls the scheduling of shows at my local scene. You have been duped by overly vocal metal elitists that actually aren't metalheads because they have no part in the metal community into thinking that Korn is unpopular with the majority of metal fandom. It's simply not true. Plus, your forum is obviously lamer than many that I've seen. One of the ones I'm a member of has seen death threats for kids that like Pantera and Slipknot and permanent bans for mentioning Metallica, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Norma Jean, Archenemy or Nightwish, any "nu-metal", industrial metal, or any "alternative metal". Furthermore, Amon Amarth, Cannibal Corpse, Emperor, Slayer, Celtic Frost, Dimmu Borgir and Carcass are known to have "sold out" on their most recent releases. Dying Fetus has been considered mallcore and progressive metal is only allowed to be talked about be girls. Is that actually representative of the majority of metalheads despite it being the biggest metal forum in Alberta? Not even close.

Here's a tip: Break up your paragraphs. All I see is a brick of RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!

And there is only one way to solve this arguement. Next summer, go to Wacken wearing chain pants and a Korn shirt. Also, actively talk to concert-goers about how awesome it would be if Korn played there. Videotape your results and post them on Youtube. We will see just how popular Korn is in the non-mainstream metal fandom, then. Once again, I am not an elitist at all, but I have never met a metalhead that liked Korn. Ever.

What are you even arguing? People don't generally consider Korn to be metal? That's a pointless argument, from either of you.

They are one, regardless of who agrees or disagrees.

Also, don't name drop Wacken as if it's some underground metal festival. It's one of the most well known and popular metal festivals ever.

Of course it's not, metal is different from rock because it has certain characteristics, that's how.

I'll be waiting on how Dillinger are officially metalcore because people agree. Proof would be nice.

Because DEP commonly tours with Metalcore bands. From previous debates it appears that's your method of determining genre.

I'm not the one going around claiming they are officially metalcore, officially meaning factually and truthfully. You are.

What they are, right down to technical ability, is a metal band.

wallbash We've already established they're a metal band several tims, now! Alright, how's this. What subgenre of metal do you think they fit in best?

Do you not see the retardation of calling them Metaljazzfusioncore? I bet you don't, I bet you actually would call them that.

You CAN and SHOULD stop at just metal. It does not imply that you think all metal is the same. People should have the presense of mind to tell what is different, it doesn't require the creation of subgenres so ridiculous.

Of course I wouldn't call them Metaljazzfusioncore, but it'd be funny to use in a parody of the metal fandom. 😆 Thanks for the idea. Yes, I can and shoul stop at metal. And I do, often. I can say Dillenger are metal. But if someone asked me "What kind of metal are they?" What do you suppose I reply with? Should I kick them in the face and scream "THEY'RE ****ING METAL AND NOTHING ELSE! WHAT DID YOU WANT ME TO SAY, SOME LONG, DETAILED JUMBLE OF RETARDATION CALLED A SUBGENRE?! YOU MAKE ME SICK! AND TO THINK I ONCE CALLED YOU A FRIEND!!" ?

Exactly. Wacken, Germany is like the Mecca of Metal. If you want to find a place to find out what the average metalhead likes, go to Wacken.

It's actually puzzling how I keep pointing out to the crux of the argument and you keep missing it.

Forget about what metalheads seem to like or not like, ok? Forget that for ONE minute.

REGARDLESS of what they like, or think, Korn would be classed as a metal band if they were a nu-METAL band, and still are classed as a metal band, really. It doesn't matter what metalheads think. If "rock" fans said Prince wasn't a rock musician cos they didn't like him or consider him rock, they'd be wrong.

Stop thinking about what fans like, that's not the argument.

-AC

But Prince isn't. He's Rock, R&B, Funk, Soul, Pop, Blues, New Wave, Jazz, Hip Hop and Classical music. You really can't put Prince under one genre.

How is that reply relevant? I never said he was just rock. I said if someone said he wasn't, at all, they'd be wrong.

He is one of the most critically acclaimed rock musicians ever, but not limited to rock.

-AC

Well everything else seemed pointless to comment on. Of course Korn is a metal band.

Pff, I would listen to you, but you didn't even know that Godspeed You Black Emperor are post-Instrumental MetalMath-rockcore...you know nothing about music.

The depressing thing is, I do not doubt for a second that someone out there would adopt that label.

Wow, nice avoidance tactic... That's not even a long paragraph. If that's too much for you I fear for your literacy and your future.

Second, I have been to Wacken and plan on attending in the future. I know exactly what it is like, thanks for playing that game.

Third, I'm starting to realize something you've probably never considered. European metal scene vs. American metal scene. If your European this will make a lot more sense, but mainstream metal in North America loves Korn, Metallica and Pantera, elitism hates it. And guess where the majority of metalheads and album sales are? North America.

In fact I already edited it into Wikipedia to make it the primary label for them.

You son of a *****.

I-i didn't.

Anyways, worst metal bands...I don't know that many. But from what I have seen Within Temptation is pretty shit.

Archenemy is IMO the worst Metal band I know(if that Grindcore shit can even be called metal).

Arch Enemy aren't even close to grindcore.

Either way, it's still just constant wailing on all the guitar strings every stroke and screaming stupid shit as loud and rough as you can.

Arch Enemy actually have a pretty good technical guitarist, far from just hammering away.

I don't like them, though.
