It would have been fine if they actually explained WHY the lasso wasn't working...but they didn't.I would just blame Superboy-Prime. Maybe the retcon punches was disrupting "truth" in the universe or something...
Another valid theory is that Gaea (Her spirit) and Hestia fled the mortal plane before the other Greek Gods did. So the lasso was possibly not as potent at that time.
Athena did mention Hestia is a "coward".

Well im trying to find the WW respect thread but the seaRch is pretty crap right now. I want the scene afterwards to see.
Go to the comic books section, and go to "Respect thread directory 2 - DC and indie"
It should be stickied. All the DC respect threads are catalogued there, for your convenience.

Yes. Apparently some "new" gods are coming. They possibly could be the old Pre-Crisis gods. Who knows? Maybe E-2 WW is still alive and well on Olympus.
With the lords of chaos and order gone, and the gods having left. there's a lot of room in DC.

NO your wrong, she killed him becuz he said that she couldnt' keep the lasso on him for ever.
Yes. WW killed Maxwell Lord because:
A) she couldn't keep the lasso on him forever
B) Knocking him out wasn't a guarantee that it would free Superman from his mental delusions
C) The lasso was already acting screwy so relying on it was a folly.
Superman was free temporarily when Diana commanded Lord via the lasso to release Superman. He did. Superman was dazed and bleeding to death from his throat wound. Diana than asked how Maxwell Lord how she could free Superman from his control permanently. Well we all know what happened after that...
So we are all in agreement then that the lasso still retains the powers to command. Even a powerful telepath like Lord who resisted at first, had to give way. Diana wins this match with Teth with her lasso commanding him to sit still, while she pulls out the sword of hephestius and makes him a new hole on top of his neck.
Originally posted by MilkieI doubt it will be revealed anytime soon, but some reasonable explanations have certainly been discussed here. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time a character's power didn't work to assist in the drama of the story.
NOEVERYONE IS NOT.
That whole thing is full holes that need to be filled.
