He had his shield up rather early on. That's why he sapped the momentum from Mjolnir. That means he kept it up during the rest of the fight. There's no reason for him to take it down.

actually (if I remember this correctly) he lost part of his powers for some reason for most of the fight so he didnt have the shield on.....(ask newjak 😬 )
