Padmè

What if....Padme takes Leia to Alderaan...stays for a few months..then realizes that by staying she's somewho endangering her daughter....so she leaves....then gets hunted down by some old enemy????

That makes the time period of the film a few months and is unprecedented.

If that is so, or if the film has an epilogue or coda, it is perfectly possible for Padme to die in ep. iii, as was always said, I believe.

Likeiwse the main theory that she dies of a broken heart about a year after ep.iii, which could also be shown in epilogue form.

I think it is likely that Anakin and Padme will split up either before Padme tells him she is pregnant or after that but before the twins are born. If I remember correctly OB1 makes some comments to indicate that the twins were split up soon after being born.

If they were split up when a few years old they would remember each other and they do not.

I have to concur with Ush as I think Padme probably dies when the twins are a few years old, exactly when we have no real idea, but we can be confident that Padme dies before Alderaan is destroyed. If she was still alive then why would Leia be fostered by Bail Organa?

Even if Padme was alive AND agreed to 'give' Leia to Bail Organa surely Leia would have known her real mother. I'm not sure if Leia knew she was fostered or not, I can't remember a reference in any of the movies to indicate that she did.

Also I can't see why GL has to close off the Padme Chapter of the SW story at the end of EpIII, remeber that it is a long time (18 years?) between EpIII and ANH, alot can happen in that time. GL does not have to kill her off to close the chapter he simply has to move her from the foreground of the story to the background and let the gap between the movies do the rest.

I think Luke's line "Your REAL mother?" indicates that it is known she was adopted.

But yes, I absolutely agree.

Yes...I agree with Ush....Luke obviously also knew.....since he was raised by aunt Beru and uncle Owen

I dont think Anakin/Vader knew Padme was pregnant at all, if so he would turn the galaxy upside down to find them

Yes you're probably right Finti, however I was just theorising about possible storylines.

If he never knew she was pregnant it must be almost impossible for her to die on-screen. That's about six months he would have to not see her during the film.

Hmmm, you've got a point there.

It would only be credible for het to become pregnant after Anakin never sees her again. So yeah, if Finti is right then she cannot die on-screen without the normal coda or epilogue or film-takes-place-over-longer provisos.

OR if he is told- say by Obi-Wan- that she is dead when she is in fact not so.

What if he knows about the pregnancy and buries his feelings for her and their children as a last act of goodness before he falls into the Dark Side?

Oh, what if the man on the moon changes his memories? Are you SO desperate to find ways it would work? Like I say, it COULD be rationalised any way you like but that line in ROTJ means the current most logical interpretation is that she lives.

I was reading this thread and I came up with an idea of what happens to Padme. What if Padme stays alive until Alderaan blows up, there is one way I can think of. To keep from dying Padme could have changed her name and the Organas could have told Leia that her mother died. That would explain how she remembered her and Luke didn't. It would also make alot of fans happy about her not dying in EP III.

It's too complex, The information in ROTJ was clearly meant to be accurate info for the audience, not part of a lie.

we are told that she dies when Leia was a small child, correct?

"She died when I was very young" to quote Leia from ROTJ

Plus that she remembers stuff. Images mainly, but still memeories. That would indicate that if we follow earthly human standards, Leia would be around 4 years old at least.

yeah that sounds right

4.....hmm sounds kind old to me....my bet is with 2.5-3 years of age

I don't know how or when Padme dies, but am looking forward to her appearance in "Episode III". Her characterisation in "Attack of the Clones" far surpasses her in "The Phantom Menace".Plus she's really cute.
