5 Things You Hate In Comic Books.

Name 5 particular things you dislike in comics. Propably already done, but Search Function didn't really help me (What is it good for anyways?)

I'll start.

1. Pointless jobbing/PIS. People tend to job if they're against a more famous/well known hero, ignoring their power levels. For example Wolverine, Cap are well known for their jobber auras . And then on the other hand, some characters are just so powerful that they must job in order to make a comic book interesting to read. No one wants to read about a charcter getting owned by a greater character in a second (Sentry vs Iron-man?) Perfect example of someone who jobs is Darkseid, or Jobbernaut.

Buuut. Comic books differ from reality. If.. Let's say Wolverine owned Hulk, that would be considered PIS, stupid etc. As Hulk (Based on the stats) should win Wolverine 9/10, but maybe this win in a comic book is supposed to represent the minor case of Wolverine winning.. Uh, I dunno.

2. Pointless Drama Some form of drama is good, as I doubt not many want to read about constant action and bland characters. But do they need to include some stupid things. For example most of the relationships occurred on the pages of X-men. (Emma, Jean & Scott drama was better) Angel & Elisabeth, Storm & everyone. *Sigh*

3. Unexplained things How many times have you been left to wonder: "How The Hell Did That Happen?" Etc. Some random plot twists and suchSome things are best to left unexplained but most of the stuff.. Bleh, it seems as the writers have pulled some of the story twists/events from their buttocks.

4. Resurrection Speaks for itself

5. "Hi, I'm your closet relative/Son from a different timeline/reality" Speaks for itself.

1. Over-satruation: I'm growing tired of the A-listers getting all the lime light and appearing in like 6 seperate books while other great characters may only appear once every few months. For such a world of diversity, the companies are placing all their chips in their mainstream heroes and not allowing others to be given a chance. It's safe marketing, but it gets bland...very bland

That coming from you isn't unexcepted, but it's a good point nonetheless 🙂

Superman hulk wolverine and i don't know the other 2 yet

I don't like the fact that every villain and their mother comes back from the dead. I would like some villains to go out in a blaze of glory and not to have it cheapened with a resurrection.

Although saying that it's quite cool that some villains like Green Goblin or Dr Doom always come back ✅

The worst thing about comics are the readers, obviously.

Characters that make everyone else look like shit.

I don't like peak human or barely superhuman characters that are portrayed as invincible.

Number one is f*cking contradictions AAAARGH!!! 😠

the most recent case i have read is ultimate X-men. Prof X says he doesn't read minds without permission. He says this to Magneto and Beast, However he reads Iceman's mind and erases a girlfriend and their conversation from his memory. He also tells Beast that he knows who alerted the media to Angel's presence as he is the world's most powerful telepath meaning he has read the X-Men's mind to find out who did it.

2. Pricing: Why is the currency charge so different between the American and Canadian prices? last time I checked the Canadian dollar is 0.89 to the US dollar, so the inflation for the Canadian prices is pretty unreliable and not justified.

Wolverine. Marvel puts him up to the job too much. They show more powerful just coz he is popular. And in DC Superman. He is one of my favourite, but sometimes they do too much for him.

You should've just said you hate X-Men comics.

Bad characterization. See the current Nightwing book for a prime example.

Actually I'm a big fan of X-men, but their stories haven't been the same lately, they've became quite bland and unorginal IMO. Still I can't find anything better to read. Meh.

Nonetheless, you made a good observation. Nearly all of my examples were related to X-men.. *Thumbs Up*

Hve you read astonishing? it's quite good imo...

1. CIS: If you want to give a character a wide variety of powers, let them use those powers, or at least give them some sort of a reason not to. Don't have it so Superman can speedblitz, but he doesn't use it more than once every 10 years. In real life, Superman would use it EVERY TIME to take out his villains. Don't have Flash get hit by virtually anything or anybody if you make him as powerful as he is. Deathstroke shouldn't be able to lay a finger on this guy unless Flash stands still and begs him to touch him.

2. "The Revolving Death Door": Don't kill off a character just to sell a few comics and then bring him/her back a week later. It cheapens the concept of death in comics. Now you can't even kill Jason Todd off without having him come back. Make a character's death mean something more than "I wonder how long it will be before we see blah blah come back to life without an explanation."

3. Clones: Enough with the clones, the parallel worlds, etc. Apparently in the comic world, clones aren't even close to the needle in the haystack that they really are. There's been what, that sheep, and that's it? However in the world of comics, anybody who has any scientific knowledge can produce a clone of someone that has already aged to the same time frame?

4. Secret Identities: Don't make Lois smart enough to deduce Luthor's plans in a moment's notice and too stupid to realize that Clark is Superman just because of his glasses. I know heroes aren't supposed to tell people their identities, but give me a break. Peter just happens to fit the same height and weight as Spider-Man, never be seen with him, is always running off when Spider-Man is popping in, and coming back with bruises from his fight, but EVERY TIME he was just "missing out on the action"?

5. Relatives: Does it have to be that every relative down to the third cousin removed on my mother's side has to become a villain or something? Knock it off. Not everyone in every family is important lol.

Retcons are a biggie

I also hate when a supporting character/villain goes through a major character developement story...... only to have it completely ignored in their next appearance (i suppose this falls under the heading of "continuity errors"😉

I hate the whole die now come back in a few months just to have an impact at the moment said death/resurrection happens. Is so bad nowadays that wehn a character dies I really dont care because I know it will be back.

I hate different variations of the same book to squeese more money out of the fans. Xmen has like 10+titles with new ones showing uo every few months. Avengers now is gonna have 2 different titles(New Avengers, Mighty Avengers), Punisher and Punisher:War Journal not to mention that all characters in said team needs an ongoing series also and if aint that, they make a huge storyline like Civil War(which I love) or Infinite Crisis in which they have tons of tie-ins and in some cases tons of aftermaths like 52, not only is 52 issues but they are weekly and the worst part is they dont bother to lower the comic books price.
