Not to mention, a lot of the science saying that drinking is "good for you" is propoganda.
Remeber those red wine has antioxidant fads? You need to drink 12 glasses a day to get benefits. Maybe its just me, but thats an excessive amount of alcohol whose negatives probalb ywould outweigh the positives. You can get more antioxidants in a single glass fo red grape juice.

Anti-oxidants? Who the hell cares about anti-oxidants? Pour me another glass of the Amorone de Valpolicello, please.

Yes. I believe the Christian Reformed church is one of these; they have--I believe these are universal, though they may only apply to the Christian Reformed church that I used to attend many years ago--all sorts about how people shouldn't watch movies, dance, etc.
Catholics and Jews understand it was real wine. I suppose all the Pilgrims are going to hell, because most drank ale instead of water....The fact is many places in history drank some sort of Ale. It was safer than the water.

Arhhh, give men a good mug of stout Dwarven ale any day! (Though personally, despite not being much of a drinker myself a glass of good wine with a fine meal is wonderful)

Is it just me or do too many people translate drunkeness to drinking? π They're both different things. Drinking isn't condemned, getting stinking drunk is. Why don't people realize this more?
Because they think drunkness = excess/indulgance. Over indulgance is in general shunned upon in Christianity.

Which has been established. The question more refers to why this is not seen in so many circles, that drinking itself is attacked, rather then overindulgence.

Drinking is good, don't let the bible decide how much you have.

People need their indulgences and not even their god will stop them from having them.

I disagree...indulgence of any physical kind was intended to be shunned by Christianity. Over-indulgence is the modern concept that Christianity "shuns" because it has had to adapt to shrinking membership.People need their indulgences and not even their god will stop them from having them.

No. Its your interpretation fo the word. There is a reason why there is so many references to bread and water in the bible.Simple meals, simple clothes. Celibacy. All these things point to NO indulgence, just faith. Removing every phyisical distraction.
You just don't want Christians to have any children. π
