Drinking

Ancient technology is widely underestimated.

Not to mention, a lot of the science saying that drinking is "good for you" is propoganda.

Remeber those red wine has antioxidant fads? You need to drink 12 glasses a day to get benefits. Maybe its just me, but thats an excessive amount of alcohol whose negatives probalb ywould outweigh the positives. You can get more antioxidants in a single glass fo red grape juice.

Anti-oxidants? Who the hell cares about anti-oxidants? Pour me another glass of the Amorone de Valpolicello, please.

Yes. I believe the Christian Reformed church is one of these; they have--I believe these are universal, though they may only apply to the Christian Reformed church that I used to attend many years ago--all sorts about how people shouldn't watch movies, dance, etc.
Not only the Reformed church, but the Baptists, Pentecostals, and most protestant churches.......Jesus drank grape juice they say which contradicts other scriptures.

Catholics and Jews understand it was real wine. I suppose all the Pilgrims are going to hell, because most drank ale instead of water....The fact is many places in history drank some sort of Ale. It was safer than the water.

Arhhh, give men a good mug of stout Dwarven ale any day! (Though personally, despite not being much of a drinker myself a glass of good wine with a fine meal is wonderful)

Is it just me or do too many people translate drunkeness to drinking? πŸ˜• They're both different things. Drinking isn't condemned, getting stinking drunk is. Why don't people realize this more?

Because they think drunkness = excess/indulgance. Over indulgance is in general shunned upon in Christianity.

Which has been established. The question more refers to why this is not seen in so many circles, that drinking itself is attacked, rather then overindulgence.

Drinking is good, don't let the bible decide how much you have.

I disagree...indulgence of any physical kind was intended to be shunned by Christianity. Over-indulgence is the modern concept that Christianity "shuns" because it has had to adapt to shrinking membership.

People need their indulgences and not even their god will stop them from having them.

Wrong, Jesus never shunned drinking (he turned water into wine for his friends). The shunning of any indulgences was the ignorance of the Word. Being against over-indulgence is in the Word. Therefore, we are know closer to the truth on the matter than before.

No. Its your interpretation fo the word. There is a reason why there is so many references to bread and water in the bible.

Simple meals, simple clothes. Celibacy. All these things point to NO indulgence, just faith. Removing every phyisical distraction.

Where does God command celibacy and no indulgence. Nazrites are commended for their vow to seperation to God which involves total abstinence, but not everyone needs to be one.

Paul talked about it........You know the founder of the Pauline Christian faith...?? πŸ™„

Pauline is such a sinister word. It give me creepy feelings.

i think its wrong to condemn drinking..people do it for different reasons in different situations....drinking appears to some as the good in there life....not all people can do the things other people do...and condeming it would be stupid and highly arrogant
