Looks like it has more than one meaning.

No, no . . . . I apologize!

"A rather modern Latinate feminine form of Alan. Also possibly from the Gaelic "ailin" meaning 'little rock'"

This is getting ridiculous.

^ All I see is "Little Rock" and "Feminine form of Alan."

I can find more sources if you'd like?

I would think I know the meaning of my own name, as I have done a fair amount of research on it. Alan isn't even a Celtic name, so how could Alana be a feminine version of it? It can be used as a modern feminine version of Alan though that is NOT the original meaning of it, nor is it the meaning that my name takes.

Try doing a search on Alanna or Alannagh, the full spelling. There's something like 30 variants on it. My name takes the meaning of Alannagh, "oh, child! An Irish term of endearment."

Wrong.

I don't think I'm that important.

You come in here already assuming you're right, I'm trying to explain myself and you say "Don't fight it"? Come on.

Well, don't worry, I'm sure it will happen within a few years, for sure.

*shrugs* I think you under-lined my point there again. I believe I said "Looks like it has more than one meaning."

Huh, imagine that.

Alana is a feminine form of Alan. Bottom line. I've given you sources.

So wait. The FULL SPELLING for your ACTUAL name is Alannagh?

If not, your legal name is Alana; the feminine form for Alan. That's all there is to it.

It looks like your once again eating shit and missing the point.

Is Lana Celtic?

Is her name Alannagh? Answer that for me, please.

Hah, this is amusing. 😆

Oh, shut up. Seriously, why do you care so much? It's not your name.

Most names have more than one meaning, but he's arguing me on what meaning my name takes, because he doesn't know the meaning of the original full version. My mom would have named me Alannagh, but she didn't think anyone would be able to pronounce it, so she went for a simpler variant. Fat lot of good that did, though, because no one can pronounce Alana either 🙄

I only hope the others that come on here and made your thread a hostile thread can be as mature as you were and apologize as well.

You're right, I confused wanting to feel important with thinking you're important. Sorry about that.

I'm almost crying from the pain of this.. it's your name, why does he care? It's like trying to tell AC how he perceives himself; idiotic and practically suicidal.

I love your name, by the way. No matter the origin 🙄
