You can edit something without changing what it says.

Leaving something out IS editing it, even if it does not necessarily change what is said. Editing is changing it in ANY manner, whether it's only quoting part of a sentence, or putting in stuff that wasn't there originally, or completely changing it altogether.

Yes, he edited the original post by not including most of it in his quote.... and doing so changed the context of the quote.

But he did still quote the guy.

I did not add anything, nor did I convert. I quoted a part of what he said. Nothing was changed, therefore, nothing was edited.

Something has to be changed in order for it to legally be an actual EDIT.

Of course it does. There was a full quote, he chose to edit it and just quote parts of it...that is still editing. He could as ´well have just used every second word. Or deleted the words that didn't fit him, like I did show twice already. It is editing. No doubt about it.

I'm not saying it's not editing the original post but the fact is his editing doesn't change the fact it's a quote... Now if he was to miss out a word in the middle, then it's not a direct quote but he didn't... He just took the beginning part....
