what prevents this from occurring?ie, what stops the accumulation of variation in isolated populations before it would be different enough to be considered its own species?
The Word of God (God does everything by His Word). Everything in this universe is governed by laws that God has set inexorably in motion.

ok.... 😕So, "microevolution" is possible, and it can lead to speciation, God just prevents it from happening....???
I guess I misunderstood what you were asking. Microevolution is a big, fancy, word that simply describes variety among or within species.
God prevents species from becoming a separate, distinct, new species.

Where does it say that God approves of you using deodorant? (Some things are just implicitly understood.)
I don't use deodorant. Remember I'm a Buddhist. I shave my body and were robes all day. 😆 jk
Species don't exist in the real world. It is only something that humans made up to catalog the natural world. It is like dimensions, they don't really exist in space.

You poor, tormented soul.
Species do exist. For example, no matter how much a chiuaua desires to be bear it will never become a bear (no matter how many trillions of years that it has to evolve).

You are so silly. You know nothing about evolution. 🙄 😆 Both chiuaua (what ever that is) and a bear are modern animals. Only animals of the past can change into animals of the present. But I understand, that is way over your head.
