Better not be eyes

So, have we established that we're to ignore the nasty troll?

"This" means she agrees. As in "I agree with this"

Yeah. That's best. A combination of my ideas and what Miss Fiend was saying made me realize that.

Also....the ol' internet saying, "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!"

Yeah, I don`t like that little internet slang there or whatever. It seriously makes no sense. You can`t just pick a word out an entire sentence with meaning and expect that one word to have the same effect.

How bout,

"Did you seriously just say that?" into just: "That."

Are you kidding me?!?! 🤨

Dude, you're worse than I thought. And, sorry, you posted enough of yourself that one could easily tell that you're a twig. Eat some steak and chicken, lift some weights. If a gust of wind came along, you would be carried away. I guess you could get your wish of flying then, right? csm

I disagree with Syren: I think you're a bit too thin and approaching unhealthy.

Uh-hu. I'd destroy someone like you with one hand.

Test levels and competitiveness do not a linear relationship make. Some people have really high test levels but are very docile. Some have really low test levels but are very aggressive. It is far more likely that environment plays a much larger role (on an individual basis) in aggressiveness than test levels. The same is not true when it comes to the population, as a whole, however.

I'm not that aggressive.

Awesome.

So are you off for the summer from school?

Eh, if it's agreed upon by a large number of people, it may well further communication, I'm not opposed to it.

Ugh that depletes communication. Well, I will not conform.

Fair dos

How does one "deplete" communication?

More, depletion of the standards of what it is to express a feeling or phrase. Laziness. Communication itself would still occur, just on a lower intellectual level.

I don't agree. Case in point, you just used a single world, laziness, to short cut an entire declarative statement. Do you think you're communicating to me on a lower intellectual level because you said "laziness" instead of saying something like "a lack of motivation to express oneself fully with multiple words"? Am I communicating with you on a lower level because I said you're instead of you are?

Man yall niggaz be deep.

That makes sense.

One could argue that all linguistic ellipses are a higher form of communication because it requires more intelligence and knowledge to understand what is being said.

If you do not see the difference between summing up "I agree with that" with the word "that" and summing up "a lack of motivation to express oneself fully with multiple words" with "laziness", then you've missed the point entirely.

The word "that" does not sum up or have any meaning relative to expressing that you agree with something. Summing up that long explanation with the word "laziness" does have the same meaning as if I had actually said "a lack of motivation to express oneself fully with multiple words". It's not about fewer words, silly, it's about using words to explain yourself that actually have meaning rather than shortening things just for the sake of shortening them.

Do you understand?

Well the "that" or "this" is not really an issue since it is redundant anyways, by common standards a quotation alone usually shows agreement with it's content. I suppose saying "this" takes out possible ambiguity if you are worried about, for example, a mocking quote.

Further the default question posed to anyone on a discussion forum is "What do you think about the topic?" or "What is your opinion" quoting something and saying "that" perfectly fits that standard.

Tbh, I'm pretty sure a lot of people know the meaning of the word "this", when used in the way Cherry did.
Of course there are exceptions, but still...
It's explaining yourself in a way that many people will understand.

All I said is I don't like it. Yeash. And I'm not going to ever like it.

We don't all need to like the same phrases or expressions, so that's alright with me.

I wasn't trying to attack you. I was just stating my opinion on something you said, as yo yourself did. Does that bother you?
