Maybe but I would notice it about him. I have creepy friends, too...they are the type of friends I DEFINITELY would not let my kids be around. John does not give me that vibe, you know? It seems that there's something else going on, especially with the "creepy" comments I'm reading all the time, that there's something about him I don't know that everyone else does. I was just wanting to know what that was. I didn't post in the OTF until a coule of years after I joined so I was out of the loop on some of the goings on...around these parts. I fully suspect that I'm missing something juicy that started this creepy RJ label.

I think it is that he often "hits" on, and has a history of dating girls that are almost 20 years younger than him. Personally I don't find that creepy, but I guess some people think there must be a gap in maturity and that it is weird he seems to only go for those younger girls (whether that is a deserved reputation or not).

I do think that there is a gap in maturity, though, the average 20 year old girl is about 10 years more mature than RJ.

Well, I don't think it's bad that the girls he's getting with are between 15-20 years younger than he is, obviously. In any other circle, guys would hi-five each other for landing "such a young lass". That means "he's still got it." Additionally, as far as I know, they are all legal. It's pretty amazing that he can do that, though, because he certainly is NOT loaded with money...which is usually the scenario we see when there's a 40+ year old getting with an 18-20 year old.

Which could be considered creepy. I haven't seen the whole movie, but Matthew McConaughey character strikes me as very creepy. so if that was the feeling someone got I'd understand why they thought it was creepy, while I personally do not.

I don't really think he's a paedophile, ffs. The comments are supposed to be tongue-in-cheek and, like Marius said, are based on his interest in younger women. I suppose I come across as being mean because it's not a secret I don't have a lot of time for him these days. I haven't exactly been subtle about the way I feel about him. Maybe I shouldn't get involved in the jibing, because it goes from light-hearted to antagonistic when I do 😬

But the women we're talking about were not in highschool. That's not the same thing. That dude in the video was talking about freshmen highschool girls: 14-15 years old.

If we were talking about you and Sarah, this would apply. And, no, I'm not joking. No one thinks you're a creeper like they do RJ. (BTW, I do not think you're a creeper for liking a 14 year old girl when you wer 19/20. That' perfectly within "natural" attraction especially if Sarah developed into a women earlier than most.)

I think the difference is not one of legality, but the mindset. What is creepy about the character is that he is so focused on that type of girls, something that RJ is not in my opinion. It is creepy when it is a pattern of preying on a group of much less mature or not mature enough people.

Legally you are right of course, but in practice a 40 year old man only going for 18 year olds or emotionally vulnerable girls can be considered creepy, but I don't think that that is what RJ is doing. (you are not quite right, btw, some people found it creepy that I was 20 when I started dating a 15 year old)

You know as well as anyone that it's not just about the age difference. It's his demeanour. It's the fact that he comments without fail on every picture posted by a young female. Providing they're semi attractive, of course, and usually when cleavage is on show 😂 His comments are often lascivious and it's cringe-worthy when you know how old he is and how old they are. It just paints a picture of a hunter and its prey. To me, at least.

The Marius/Sarah situation is different. It was kept pretty private as far as I can remember. There was no perverse public flirting. It was quite modest. And the ****ed up thing is, the age difference would have been questionable to someone who didn't know them. They're not polite about it any more though, they're downright disgusting at times nahuh

I don't care what he said, his opinion means nothing to me. However, I'm glad he deleted it too, if only because I probably would have responded negatively and ended up getting myself banned 🙄
