I'm not sure if it is accurate in every place. Obviously there are food deserts, particularly in poor areas, where it is immensely hard to even get nutritious food. But for example the study you cited on facebook seems flawed in how they arrive at the data (comparing the diets of high income households).
In my experience in Germany, eating a healthy diet is no more expensive, and potentially even less so than eating junk food (except for my time, which I value at 5000$ per hour).
The thing is you can **** yourself over, obviously, buy an organic Avocado and you pay like 2.50€ instead of 90 cents that a "normal" one costs. But in my area, and in many other areas, definitely in the UK as well, you can live well on a pretty tight budget, if you want to (and have the time). Even better if you have the money to buy some in bulk ahead of time (which obviously not everyone has).
