I'm not sure if it is accurate in every place. Obviously there are food deserts, particularly in poor areas, where it is immensely hard to even get nutritious food. But for example the study you cited on facebook seems flawed in how they arrive at the data (comparing the diets of high income households).

In my experience in Germany, eating a healthy diet is no more expensive, and potentially even less so than eating junk food (except for my time, which I value at 5000$ per hour).

The thing is you can **** yourself over, obviously, buy an organic Avocado and you pay like 2.50€ instead of 90 cents that a "normal" one costs. But in my area, and in many other areas, definitely in the UK as well, you can live well on a pretty tight budget, if you want to (and have the time). Even better if you have the money to buy some in bulk ahead of time (which obviously not everyone has).

Good points, but for example, brown rice is more expensive than white. Olive oil is more expensive than canola oil. Free range eggs are more expensive than caged. You get the point. I'm not talking just junk food vs. homemade, I'm actually talking about the quality of groceries I suppose. And to be honest, fruit is ridiculously expensive in the UK, at least to someone who comes from North America.

That's sort of what I'm talking about though, like olive oil is not necessarily higher quality or healthier than canola...free range eggs aren't really better for you than caged, etc.

I mean one thing is eating healthy, the other is eating up to a "higher" standard you may set for yourself. Obviously you can always spend more money if you want to...

And well, the UK is just a ridiculously expensive place generally.

I love these types of conversations. I wish KMC had them, more. 🙁 Why are we dying out, yo?

Have to agree with Bardocky. An average FF meal (Large Burger, Fries and Drink) is around 7ish dollar here.

For 7ish dollars I could easily buy a small packet of chicken (about 2 servings) and some mixed greens (2-3 servings). Counting that I already have olive oil and vinegar to use as dressing.

So I'm really trading health and my time to cook for unhealthy food and convenience. Taste being subjective.

edit: No idea why this is being had in the picture thread

Because you all love me just that ****ing much.

In Sweden a Big Mac and Co costs over $10, and for that kind of money you can buy like 50 eggs.

In Mother Russia, a Big Mac cheap.

I'll give you the free range eggs maybe, but olive oil is definitely healthier than canola oil.

Regardless, good luck on your weight loss people.

Olive oil actually improves ventricular hypertrophy, so it's great for the heart and overall blood circulation. Plus, as a Sicilian, I can respek the Olive Oil Business.

Anyway you wanna get skinny AF go on a diet of home-made cold-slaw (simple: cut up cabbages and carrots and then put a dash of mayonnaise [with omega 3's] and vinegar in it as well as lots of pepper) and turkey slices (from the Deli at your local Walmart or whatever there is).

Actually it's really expensive over there to slow down lines.

They love your capitalist shite.

When I was drinking calorie-free lipton I was peeing all day. So it may help to drink ridiculous quantities of zero calorie lipton while taking omega 3 vitamins to ramp up how efficiently your body responds to insulin (by removing fat basically).

But... Generally, if you wanna eat healthy its gonna put a dent in your wallet.

Don't wanna eat coleslaw.

Sir, you've never had MY coleslaw. The kind you buy at the store is terrible.

ANYWAY, the biggest advantage to a meal of Lipton 0, coleslaw, and gluten-free/fat-turkey ovenroasted turkey slices is the proteins, vitamins and omega 3s, but the real key to why you can eat as much as you want is the lack of carbohydrates.

Because carbohydrates are the true leading cause of obesity. They're in most preferred foods, even in fruits!!

Russia can be quite expensive. Moscow is one of the most expensive cities in the world.

I do indeed feel as crappy as I look. Also, my kitty!

Yeah, I heard that Moscow is stupid crazy expensive. But it is not "London" expensive. I read the London is the worst in the world when it comes to standards of living stuff.

Also, I was getting my comment about the Big Mac from Wikipedia...$2.15 for a Big Mac in Russia which, I believe, makes it the cheapest country in the world for a Big Mac.

Also, missed you, ABS. It's nice to see you around here.
