I think it's ridiculous. Having teenage depression does not make you emo. I know people that wear tight, black pants, are suicidal and cut themselves and HATE emo music. They love bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Led Zepplin, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, etc. That does not make them emo.

It's stupid. I have yet to meet someone that is actually emo.

One of my friends got a new hair cut, he died it dark brown and got it parted with an angled fringe. One of our friends teased him for being emo. Having a hair style does not make him emo.

To me, emo is not a look, it's a music GENRE.

I can see that.

If those kids actually came from rough areas and didn't grow up financially privellaged, then their rantings would be a little more credible.

MCR is not an emo band, and it's only the rich upper class kids that cut themselves that piss me off.

No one's saying you can't label yourself an "Emo", wear ratty dark clothing, mope around like the weight of the world is on your shoulders; thinking "everything sucks" and "everything is stupid", while you smoke and burn yourself with cigarettes... but, people have the equal freedom to point and laugh.

Most emos that cut themselves do it for attention, some don't cut themselves at all, and some people cut themselves without being emo.
