Blood Donation & You

I tried in high school, but they could only get half the quota out of one arm so they drained the other one and took over an hour. Then, I thought it was a fluke so I tried it again a few years later. Same result. So that would be a permenant "no" from now on.

I used to in high school. But I am no longer allowed.

Bardock, the guy in your sig looks like Ian McDiarmid, aka Chancellor Palpatine, from Star Wars.

Why? Because you are gay? Should probably not make jokes about that...

Oh and, he does a bit, doesn't he...but just a bit...not too much..

Yes. Because I am gay. Also, the older I got, the more terrified of the needles I became. I almost fainted when I had to get a tetanus shot.

he looks pretty spot on to me. but I'm basing this on one half of his face.

I know

And proud of it too..

Nah, not really proud of it. But I think the world would be a better place if we forced ppl into doing a few things (like giving blood) that don't harm them (they only take up a bit of time) and are good for society

Yeah, well i disagree. I think everyone has to decide for themselves if they want to donate their blood.

I think forcing people to do anything harms them...

i don't have blood

lol I know we agree on that fact.

Nope, and I don't think I ever will. Between the fact that I have a very severe phobia of needles (no, not injections, which is what many people have a few of when they say they're scared of needles, but actually of the needles themselves) and that the one time I did try and donate blood, I promptly passed out when they stuck the needle in me....yeah....it's not going to happen, sorry.

Well, when you pass out they can just take your blood out, can't they?

I don't get the whole passing out business anyways...all a bunch of whiny pussies...if you have to pass out at least be cool about it.

Yes, because taking blood from someone who's fainted, thus making them weaker, is always such a good idea 🙄

I have very severe phobias...admittedly that's the only time I've passed out from something that I was afraid of, but I've come close to it at other times.

Why not? You probably won't die, but if you do they'll get 4 litres of blood plus a few organs....it's kind of a win-win situation really.

I never fainted, but I want to know what it feels like..so..tell me. Is it like falling asleep?

😂 😛

Hmmm...everytime I've fainted I've gotten really dizzy a minute or two before, and then just simply don't remember anything until I woke back up. I've always been sitting down when it happened, so I never did the whole falling to the floor thing, except for one time when I blacked out while at a practice at school because it was way too hot in the gym where we were. That was only for a second though so according to everyone else I went really white and swayed a bit and then I just walked out once I realized what happened. It's not all that fun, really.

It sounds like an experience one should have though...

at least you didnt have to deal with marching nazi?
But yeah, we were all worried for you when we found out

Done it maybe twice in my life. Funny...but I do remember getting a lot more hungrier after donating blood. hmm

I had a really bad experience as a child with taking blood (it was for tests at the time) and it scarred me for life...so I say no to needles

I hate getting blood taken. It feels icky.
