i think that ever since they won in 03-04, the chemistry and depth is shrinking. back then, their BENCH consisted of players like mike james, mehmet okur, corliss wlliamson, who all start now (except for corliss). now, they rely too much on their starters. and i don't it's gonna work with flip saunders. he's gotta go. detroit is all about defense, and what does dumars do? he gets an offensive minded coach. bad move.
Dumars put together that 03/04 team, and all there success can be traced back to him so I think he knows what he's doing. He put together a great defensive team, than he went for more balance with more offense, and if Saunders didnt wear out the starters last year they may have one another title, but there offense wasnt the problem. Detriot needed more offense, so bringing an offensive coach wasnt a bad idea, but I will say I agree about Flip Saunders may have not been the right coach to bring in. I was very skeptical when Dumars hired him, not because he is an offensive coach but because of his track record in the playoffs, if Detriot doesnt get to the finals this year I would let him go.

The Pistons have always been a team effort so its not like Ben carried them. Ben is a loss, no question, he's a proven leader, great athlete and his defense is just crazy. Having said that, I dont think him leaving will hurt the Pistons that much, on any other team it would have been a greater loss but the pistons are still a good defensive team w/o him, they could still shut down teams when Ben was on the bench last year because they are so good at rotating on defense.(plus Sheed, and Prince are no slouches on D either)Without Ben they are gonna be better offensively. I would be suprised if they didnt finish as one of the top 3 in the east this year. I dont think its no secret that Detriot needs there bench to step up and stay healthy, if that happens, and Saunders doesnt wear out his players, Detriot is golden.

I, on the other hand, have given you facts and opinions as to why the Lakers won't beat out Phoenix. If you can't do the same, than your prediction looks like it was brought out of thin air without any substance.
If you want to keep saying the Lakers will win the divison, fine, I don't care if I change your opinion or not. True, many people, including myself, concentrate mostly on how much their favorite teams improved and how they will succeed during the oncoming season. i still believe the suns will get the division, especially with amare back in the lineup, but who knows? the lakers may pull off a good fight.

Yeah, I'm sure because it's preseason Hawks fans are just going crazy about their teams chances. I'm sure they are all predicting "Hawks, next NBA Champs BABY!!!" in Atlanta. So would I be a fool to call those Hawk fans prediction stupid because it's preseason?
Because facts from last season might be a nice little barometer to what might happen this year. Like, I don't know, Phoenix having a 9 game lead on the Lakers without, arguably, their best player. I mean, I would really like to know how you think the Lakers who barely improved in the offseason are going to beat out Phoenix who are getting one of the best players in the L back. Is Kobe going to average 81ppg in your mind? Is Kname going put up Laker Shaq like numbers in your mind? Because if that doesn't happen then the Lakers have no shot. It's not like either the Lakers or Suns shacked up their roster in the offseason. Both teams are pretty much the same and if both are the same, then how do you expect the Lakers are going to beat out Phoenix? Sign Chuck Norris or something?
Like I said, I'm not here trying to change your opinion, I'm arguing a point. You're the one sticking with your dumb prediction making yourself look ignorant.
There's a difference between thinking your team is going to be good and being outright ignorant about your team's chances. I'm a Kings and Raiders fan. I knew the Raiders were going to suck this season no matter what and this was before I saw how bad their O-line was. I wasn't coming into the NFL season thinking "Raiders! Moss! Top the of the division, baby!!!" like your with your Lakers, as I knew it wasn't going to happen. Same thing with the Kings. I think they are going to do really well. They could get the 4th seed, in my estimation, at best. They also could be a disappoint and be 8th or out of the playoffs. Now, do I think they can catch Phoenix like you? Hell no, as Phoenix is a much better team than either the Kings or Lakers and will probably win 60 or more games. It's called being a logical human being.
How do I sound dumb? Can you come up with anything better than "Well, you do!!!!"?
