Anyway, I was disappointed by the Cavs/Celtics game, but only because the Celtics won. Was an exciting game. Now I'm excited for another game 7 tomorrow, YAY!
So proud of the Lakers after that tough "close out" game on the road, they really showed alot of poise and focus to not only go up big in the 1st half but also weather the storm as the Jazz came back in the 4th. Championship calibre teams need character building games like this, reminded me of the famous game 7 at Arco during the three peat.
Kobe was incredible in the 4th, picked his spots perfectly and just forced his will on the game. I was also impressed with Sasha rebounding from a terrible game 5, he rarely has 2 bad games in a row. Lamar and Pau were solid and most importantly our defense especially in the 1st half was outstanding. Getting Ariza back will help our perimeter defense down the stretch to, i would like to see him guard either Parker or Paul in the next round when we need stops.
Bynum goes in for surgery this week, get well soon big man. Next season is gonna be something special for Laker fans.
Close but no cigar Cavs, LeBron steadily improved all series but the Celtics just managed to squeeze out a win. The Celtics do look very beatable though and i wonder how the will stand up to Detroits balanced scoring and strong defense. Wallace will do a good job on KG, Prince will slow Pierce down so you are left with Allen who couldnt even get it done against Wally. If the Pistons dont slack off like are prone to do i can see them beating the Celtics but winning in Boston is no easy feat.
Bring on the Spurs, just like old times! This should be a great series, the Spurs are the ultimate challenge for us and im glad that we will have to go through them to get to the finals.
We match up with them well and Kobe always gives us the ultimate x factor. Fish is gonna have his work cut out for him trying to stay in front of Parker but i hope this is a situation that we use Ariza for stretches, he is quick enough to stay with Parker and his long arms could really bother his jumper. Kobe will be able to score at will because you cant double him as easy with the talent he has around him. Bowen cant stay with Kobe anymore so he should be able to get in the lane and get whatever he wants. Lamar has to stay aggressive against Oberto, he can take him off the dribble any time but he needs to be wary of charging calls because Oberto is a smart defender. Gasol will struggle against Duncan in the post but he is such a good passer he can hit the cutters while keeping Duncan (their only shot blocker) away from the hoop. Manu could be trouble but hopefully Kobe and Ariza can keep him quiet.
I think this could go 7, the Spurs even though they are old are masters at winning ugly. They are not intimidated on the road and they always bring it defensively. I think we can take them but we cant afford many lapses.
