I still don't understand how a athlete can collapse a cities economy, let alone a sporting franchise.

A lot of revenue goes into advertising for the Cavs, specifically for Lebron. Lose that and that influx goes away.

A lot of factories there (and elsewhere) make clothing and house hold items that people will buy, so long as Lebron's face is on it.

Even the little guys can cash in on Lebron's star player aura.

Cleveland's economy is poor as it is. They haven't taken the recession well and their housing market is just awful. Cleveland is a blue collar town full of factories, which means union jobs. And those come and go.

A team at the caliber that Cleveland is at brings in the possibility of admission tax because people like to live where championship teams are. And the Cavs have been on the verge of getting a chip, even though they have fallen short.

And having a successful team like the Cavs attracts tourist. They do have the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame and Museum. So there are attractions, but you need something to really reel them in. That's where Lebron comes in.

Without Lebron, there's virtually no chance of that happening.

Think about it. The football they have their is average at best and only at the collage level. What else is there to do? Their music scene, while not bad (big Mushroomhead fan myself), isn't exactly a big draw.

Locals will spend hard earned cash to go to a Cavs game.

"Collapse" may be a bit much, but it doesn't help them if he does go. And he will.

If your city needs a star player to survive then something is seriously wrong.

Yes, something IS seriously wrong with Cleveland.

If there was still industry going on, maybe we'd just fine. But obviously, we've gone the way of Detroit and our industries have left us...

If Cleveland can turn it around in this series, maybe we're meant to win the title (I mean, look at the odds stacked up against us)

But the way I see it, we've already lost. I'll still support the Cavs, but it feels kind of like how the fans must have felt after Elway went 98 yards to tie the conference title game and force overtime. We still have a chance, but nobody really believes we can do it now...

I'm not a fan of Lebron at all so I find his recent struggles HILARIOUS.

I definitely agree that Lebron leaving will affect Cleveland in a way but yes, collapse is completely different.

I also didn't say that Cleveland is not doing bad. I know it is but I cannot believe one second that if Lebron James leaves the team that Cleveland will be that affected financially.

Factories that create clothes and household items? Please, most of that stuff is made overseas. Also, eople are not going to move to a new city because it has a championship caliber team.

If Lebron leaves, the team is likely done but it will not affect Cleveland financially to the point where a collapse will happen. If Cleveland residents think that a team will have a major effect on the city financially then they're just using the Cavs as a scapegoat. Cleveland has more significant problems then a potential team leaving.

I did say elsewhere if you just look back at what I said.

And people move to championship cities all the time. Look at the boom in Tampa when the Bucs won the Super Bowl.

And since we're agreeing that "collapse" is a strong word what's the issue? YOU asked the question. I just gave you reasons. Why the hell is everyone so touchy today? Or am I just misunderstanding you?

And actually, there's a lot of talk of moving the team to another city.

Make no mistake. Cleveland is in bad shape financially. They're not far removed from Detroit in that regard. Just a sign of the times.

Game 6 tomorrow

😛

Hats off to Lebron. He had a triple double, but 9 turnovers

He has a big decision to make

Their owner could fire Mike, Shaq is all but gone and then what does Lebron do

Geshien, taking the Magic over the Celtics

😆 The "New York Knicks" chant was priceless. 😆

I'm sold.

Kobe Bryant has now retaken the title of Best Player in the NBA.

Lakers are gonna rip the Suns in 4-5 to be honest. We're too big for them. They have no way of stopping Kobe, Gasol, or Bynum(assuming he's healthy).

As for Boston-Orlando. It's close and I think will go to 6-7 games. I'd have to go with Orlando though. They've been highly impressive.

I'm liking our chances of repeating this year. I honestly think Orlando overall is better than last year with Nelson, Barnes, etc. Should be interesting.

The Lakers are too big for Phoenix

I think the Magic will prevail. Ray Allen won't b consistent enough for the older Celtics to win a 7 game series

It was an exciting series while it lasted.

Looking forward to seeing the Magic whoop some of that Celtic ass.

Yall should

Won 3 out of 4

Kobe didn't retake anything, the title was always his. He is better than Lebron James.

maybe lebron got jinxed by those damned puppets.. who knows.. at least this time, nike did't assume shit.. i was expecting a game 7, or should i say hoping for a game 7 in the cavs/celts match up.. the celts just pulled out that championship team maturity/experience thing that lebron has yet to achieve.. i say bring on the rivals.. f*ck orlando and re-live the glory days that were boston vs LA.. revenge is a dish best served with a quarter-pound, jewel-encrusted championship ring..

Jinxed nothing. This is a trend your seeing. Lebron hasn't got the team nor the maturity for a ring.

A no, not **** Orlando. **** the masses/casual fans and what they want to see. The media tried to shove that crap down peoples throats last year with the Kobe v Lebron ads and talk.

The Magic have shown the ability to be an elite for a couple years now and are looking as favorites to return to the Finals.

It's Orlando Magic time. Get use to it. 🪩

The way the NBA is fixed I won't be surprised if it's LA vs. BOS like old times. If i was watching I would be rooting for the Magic, but I probably won't be.

I hope the Suns win it.

I would love to see Nash win a title.

Magic decided not to play like it was the ECF.

I'm so sick with this team today. I got nothing.

Hats off to the Celtics for playing a solid game.
