Any Sixers fans in here? I've been hearing that Philly's front office is willing to trade their 1st round pick (#2 overall) to anyone willing to take on Elton Brand's contract + give them talent and cap relief in return... Is this true? If so:

How about Elton Brand + Andre Iguodala to the Cavs for Antawn Jamison, Delonte West, Anthony Parker, and Daniel Gibson? Or something similar? I just can't see the Sixers parting with possibly drafting Evan Turner, as he would be a TREMENDOUS piece to help rebuild the franchise with Williams, Young, Speights, etc.

Antawn Jamison - Equal to/better than Elton Brand and has a cheaper and shorter contract. More athletic and probably a better scorer. Good veteran presence and hard worker

Delonte West - serviceable guard with a cheap contract and expiring next year

Anthony Parker - again, serviceable guard who is money from behind the arc, cheap contract and expiring next year

Daniel Gibson - This one might raise some ???s but he's a young, talented sharpshooter who can drain 3 pointers off the bench. He has a longer contract, but with pretty much the rest of Philly's roster (minus Lou Williams) contracts running out soon anyway, it won't be much of a cap hit, if one at all. Philly can still go after a free agent next year

Brand still has some left in the tank (plus he'll be outstanding trade bait when his contract runs out), and it'd all be worth it to get LeBron (should he stay) a true "Scottie Pippen" for his "Michael Jordan" (FINALLY)

Imagine this potential starting line-up:

Mo Williams
Andre Iguodala
LeBron James
Elton Brand
Shaquille O'Neal

Now granted our big men will be pretty old (they won't be playing too many minutes anyway), but that back court is AMAZING. And don't forget we'd have guys like Hickson, Varejao, Moon, Telfair, Leon Powe, and Danny Green coming off the bench. I think Green could be a good SG off the bench for us next year. He was a steal that late in the draft, and Mike Brown, like he does all rookies (see Shannon Brown), horribly misused him.

So is this a possibility? If this doesn't say "We want to win you a ring here in Cleveland, LeBron" nothing will.

Lakers lost 🙁

Too many 3s and have to play tougher defense

Phoenix shot over 40 free throws. Incredible

Lakers will play better next game

Yeah, I was shocked the lakers lost.

What about the cap?

Do you really think the Cavs can afford Iggy and Brand's massive contracts, not including a max deal for James?

I'm a Sixers fan, and if they do that I will never watch them again. I barely watch the NBA anymore as it is, but it would be beyond retarded to trade the pick that would get them Evan Turner. Plus that would mean assuming a free agent would sign with us, and I don't see any star player that would want to play for the Sixers.

Oh and Brand has very little left in the tank. Everybody hates him over here. You could probably swing a deal for Iguodala though, without us trading the 2nd pick he's been rumored in a lot of trades.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. You guys keep the #2 overall pick and draft Evan Turner. We take Iguodala to be LeBron's sidekick, and as a consequence, take Brand's contract off your hands, as well as give you serviceable players whose contracts are set to expire with the next year or two, meaning you can go after a big name FA in the near future (to play alongside Turner, Williams, etc.)

Well, to be honest, the owner, Dan Gilbert, isn't shy about spending lots of money on his basketball team. That's why we're always so aggressive to trade for great (but expensive) players, because Gilbert doesn't care, he'll sign the checks. We're over the cap and into the luxury tax right now, but then again, so are LA, Boston, Orlando, and any of the other elite teams.

Yeah, Iggy and Brand's contracts are very big (and long, Iggy's has 5 years on his), but we're getting a consistent 2nd scoring option (FINALLY) who is also a great defender. We're giving up $11.5 million (Jamison), $4 million (West), $2.5 million (Parker), and $4 million (Gibson) to acquire $14 million (Brand) and $12 million (Iguodala). We're only adding a little over $4 million to our team salary. It's not as much as one would think...

And about LeBron's max contract: LeBron has 7 years of experience in the league, meaning his max deal is around the $17 million a year range. On his current contract, he's already making nearly $16 million, so all you'd need to do is add in $1 million to the total intake. We'd really be bringing in $5 million more than we had this year. Plus the $5 million from the MLE... but again, Gilbert will spend to win a title.

Really?

It's like the ad says, "Anything Can Happen".

The smart money is on L.A. (no one would be surprised if they won the title this year), but that doesn't mean they would necessarily sweep the Suns or even win the series.

I wasn't.

They always get complacent when they think they have a series won.

Why do you think they want to trade Brand and the second rounder to get him off the team?

It's because his contract is an albatross. No way the Cavs do that.

BOSTON Bruins up 3-0, lost to the Flyers 4-3. BOSTON Celtics up 3-0, lose to the Magic 4-3? Would be hilarious. 😆

The only problem.

Orlando has Carter. Zing!!!

If it means we get Iggy locked up for 5 years? We might.

We want LeBron to have a true #2 option, taking pressure off of Mo and the others to perform at a huge level. We thought Mo was that guy. He's a great #3 option but nothing more. We thought Shaq was the guy. He's too old. We thought Jamison was the guy. He didn't show up. This gives us a young guy who can run with LeBron for quite a few years.

But imagine when Brand's contract runs out... That'd be nearly $20 million expiring to bargain with 😈

That's not happening until 2014.

You really think that the Cavs would do that? Take a 17 million year guy?

I can't see it happening.

Lakers lose 🙁

Good for the Suns.

I hope they continue. I would love to see them in the Finals. I think they deserve it.
