i've been thinking..... i heard that theres a possible odom for artest trade.... well, listen closely my friends, heres a theory. say this trade happens. you got kobe and ron-ron running for the lakers.... could this be like an mj pip evolution here? think about it... kobe and michael, while noone can or will never be another michael jordan (and i'm glad of that) kobe can score almost at will over most defenders like mj did, although in a different way. artest at the 3spot, well.... hes a capable scorer and great defender... sounds familiar? pippen anyone? oh and guess wat... whos coaching them? yep. phil. all i'm saying is if teh trade happens, then you never know. all you need is a rodman, and i dont think kwame is gonna be dying his hair!

In all the quarters that Kobe plays, what is the chances that it would be that quarter? Its kind of like what one writer on ESPN.com said. What if Wilt sat out the 4th quarter of his 100 point game? They had a pretty big lead and it was not necessary for him to stay in. But by staying in and scoring as much as possible, it helped basketball as a whole. With Kobe, it would have only been good for basketball had he played.
The difference is it was Wilt, everyone loved Wilt. A few years ago Kobe may have stayed in a gone for more, but after listening to an interview with him yesterday im even more sure that it was the right thing to do. Its no secret that he has a bad image right now (mostly down to his own play but alot of it is also due to media). and there are plenty of people that would have torn Kobe a new one for staying in and going for more points. He would have been seen as out for himself, selfish, only about stats, etc, by coming out of the game it shows that he is aware of how he is not perceived as a team player and he is trying to correct that. It may not have been a popular decision with fans wanting to see him break a record but i totally understand and agree with what he did.
Oh and welcome Kingman and Fabled Hero.
it was the right decision to take him out of the game. who knows if the lakers wont make the playoffs? they may click with each other and make a late surge.... ande you never know... mite make a decent run. no-one thought the knicks would when they were eight seed 5 years ago... the finals they went to. if kobe got injured trying to break a record then it aint gonna help, and it also lets other team members play and develop.
I think Kobe should have stayed in. Think about it, they are up by 30, and what reason would there be to watch the game if Kobe doesnt play the fourth? None. Theres no reason at all to watch the game. If Kobe plays, there there is a reason to watch it, just to see what he does. I know if i was at a Sixers game, and AI didnt play the 4th when he had 60+ points, I would be mad.

I agree Detroit are playing some serious ball on both ends of the floor. I like how they have stepped it up offensively without slowing down their defense intensity. What does it take for the media to give props to the Pistons? I mean i'm a Laker fan and all but i dont mind admitting the Pistons are the best team in the league right now (might be different come the playoffs). All the media talk about is the Miami soap opera.
spot on, spot on....i'm so used of detrioit going dogged by the media it isnt funny...the media is a joke, always about glitz and glam....even when detroit won the championship, all the talk was about shag, is he gonna stay, you know that really grinds my gears, you know what else really grinds me gears, you Shaq, **** YOU!!!!

I don't think it is something Kobe really wanted to do. I think it was something he did to make a statement. A statement that he thought the media would like more, not what he really wanted to do.
Anyway, just as a note, Kobe claimed the day before that he was going to try to score 50 on Dallas and in an interview he was claiming that he was probably going to score 80. This isn't a knock on Kobe, I'm just saying it would have been nice to have more proof behind it.

I agree, Kobe if he was honest with himself would probably have wanted to stay in. But thats the point, he realises its not about what he wants its more important for him to try and change the view everyone has of him and show he is maturing and less egotistical. That to me is more important than going for a record, if he wants to be considered one of the greatest he's gonna have to show more than how many points he can score.
I just hope he doesnt try and win the Heat game by himself, i'd much rather see him with a 25-8-10 stat line than a 53-2-2 one. He can do either if he puts his mind to it but to get the assists your teammates have to hit their shots.
Also on a side note, shame on NBA Action for not having that Kobe reverse lay up he made against Dallas or his long game winner against the Mavs in the same game in their Top 10. 😛

oh lol... i thought you were talking about my post, and i got confused. 😆
I am begining to like Mo Cheeks less and less each game. Iverson is one of the best players in the league, and every Sixers game i have watched that went down to the wire,Mo Cheeks gives the ball to Webber. It doesn't make sense at all. I know Webber is doing good, but Iverson is 100 times better. And when you need a score, you give the ball to AI, not Webber. A couple games i watched last month, the Sixers had the ball with 2 seconds or less, and each time AI was passing the ball in. Why? They should have Iguodala pass it in, and get the ball to AI for the game winning bucket.
The MAVS recent thrashing at the hands of Kobe made a few things very clear to me...
1. The MAVS still have no defense
2. They really miss Findog, his leadership and perimeter defense
3. They're still not as good as their record
4. Their young players still need time to develop
And more importantly it confirmed what I already thought that I'm really no longer a MAVS fan. I went to a local sports bar to see the game that night, thinking the MAVS would get some revenge from their last defeat at the hands of Kobe and the Lakers, what ended up happening was the complete opposite a blowout and Kobe going off for 62 in 3 qtrs. but more importantly was the fact that I really didn't care that my team was getting killed, I was actually enjoying the show and I would've stayed to watch the 4th qtr if he'd been playing.
Anyway, what I'm basically saying is I'm confirming what I've felt all along this season, for the 1st time in a long time I have no NBA team as a favorite, which is a bit depressing for me. Don't get me wrong I still luv the game and I like to watch all the teams but I really miss not having a team that I can root for. Bottom line if the MAVS win a championship this season I guess I'll be happy but if they don't I really wont be disappointed. Hopefully by the end of this season I guess I'll have found a new team to root for or maybe I'll just stick with the MAVS???? 😕 🙁 😐
Everybody has a bad game. Remember last year when Detroit got romped by Charlotte? Also, don't forget that Dallas has a good record and they have creamed Detroit, San Antonio, and the Heat in those games. Dallas has a great chance this year. One of their best in years in my opinion. Don't give on your team too easily.
