That's completly true.
Also, I think the only time something can be challenged in basketball is who touched the ball last, or if somebody stepped out of bounds.

One question: In football, you can only challenge the call after the play is done and before the next play starts. It works because their is about 30-40 seconds of non action. But in basketball, how would they challenge it, if the play is continuing on.
Because, they cant have the play stop so somebody on the team can check the replay.

I dont think it should be in the league, because as Myth say's it will slow the game down considerably.
Also, unlike football, one bad call doesnt really change the game too much.
My suggestion would be too have the replay allowed only in the last two minutes of the game.

Even with the last two minute thing, I heard that the last 2 minutes of playing time averages 10 minutes as it is (in college ball at least and its probably close in the NBA). Thats why I think that they should have to give up a time out whether they are right or wrong for slowing down the game. Hell, maybe even 2 time outs since you know damn well coaches will use that time to deliver messages to their players anyway.

Wait, how about it costs a time out to use a challenge. An extra time out is taken away as punishment if the coach was wrong about challenging the call.

new york lost again 🙁

Sounds like a good idea.
But overall, I think challenges wont work in the NBA.
Basketball teams do not lose on one play, so one bad call, wont really affect the outcome of the game, unless its in the last minute or so of the game.
In football, challenges work because a miscall on a fumble, interception or touchdown reception can significantly change the outcome of the game.

Damn LeBron dropped 51 on the Jazz, anyone see the game? Reading the box score doesnt do it any justice.

Exactly. It pretty much would have to be a final minute thing for the play to be important enough for the coaches to lose their time-outs. I actually think this would speed up the game because coaches may save 2 time outs for the very end just in case they need to challenge.

any bad call can change the outcome of the game, whether its the first quarter or the last 20 seconds. think about it... a bad call in the first half where u got called for a charge when it was clearly a blocking foul, and turned over the ball giving up a potential 2 points, could come back to haunt u if u lose by 2 points... any call at any time in a game is important and all players and coaches know that. its easy for us to say it doesnt matter, but they know.

Not really though.

If a bad call gives the other team 2 points, and you happen to lose by two points, it means the other team played better than you, and not because of the miscall. They're is soo many points in basketball that you have alot more chances to make up for mistakes that the ref's did.
Case in point:
The ball was thrown out of bounds and it looked like it hit the attacking team player last, but the ref's said it hit defending player last. Bad call.
Well, nonbody has scored yet, so the defending team still has a chance to get the ball back without the attacking team getting the basket. If they dont, then the defending team isnt as a good as the attacking team at that time.
If a coach says that one foul was a mistake and thats the reason they lost is full of shit because at that time, his team could stop complaining and play on because later in the game, that missed 3 pointer that was an airball in the 3rd quarter wasnt an miscall by ref. Or, that turnover that the start PG threw out of bounds, or the block that stuffed your bigmen in the 4th wasnt a miscall. If they got that 3 pointer, didnt turn it over and that easy basket, the team would of by 3 instead of losing by two. In basketball, they're is soo many times that somebody can correct or make up for thier mistakes in the game.

Jeez, we are getting mauled by the Raps at home at the moment. Sorry Raps fans but if the Lakers want to make the playoffs this year then they should be steamrolling the Raps. I hope we can turn this around.

@koolz

damn kobe exploded!

53 in 30 mins, damn that Kid is wild'n!

It's not even funny anymore. Kobe is head and shoulders above anyone else in the NBA.

1

Kobe has 57 points with 9 minutes remaining.

Ok, I'm going to say this now: I hate Kobe, but nobody in the NBA deserves the MVP this year besides Kobe. People are starting to make a case for Nash again, but I don't see it. I think nobody really deserved MVP last year and it came down to giving it to somebody on the top team. Usually, a top team's best is one of the best in the league. Last year, the best team didn't have the best player but the best player in the league didn't deserve the MVP either because he wasn't leading his team enough (I'm referring to KG). This year, the best player (Kobe) isn't on the best team again. However, one major difference makes it so that he deserves MVP anyway. KG's team should have done good. Kobe's team should be awful and Kobe is doing far more than anybody could ever ask.

This brings me to the fact that either way, I will be angry with however wins MVP this year (assuming it is either Nash or Kobe):
Why I'll be angry if Nash wins: Because he doesn't deserve it. I get angry when somebody is awarded something that I don't think they deserve.
Why I'll be angry if Kobe wins: Because I simply hate him. However, as mentioned above he deserves it.
If it comes down to these two, I won't know who I'd rather have win, although I definitely know who deserves it more.

one

Kobe is one crazy effer. If he ever learns to involve his teammates...watch out. Simply the best offensive player in the league.

Weird night in the NBA. Kobe goes for 81 and the Sonics beat the Suns 152-149 in double overtime. If I had the league pass, my thumb would have been killing me from switching back and forth to those two games.

Ray's game winner.

TYRONE WILSON FROM COMPTON SAYS " THIS NIGGA WAS AMAZING, THE WAY HE RAPE THEM BITCHES WAS OFF THE SHIZZLE MY NIZZLE..."

^rofl

Anybody notice how much Phoenx struggles in OT games this year? They've had like 2 tripleOT games and 2 double OT games and several other single OT games. I think they've lost just about all of them (at least if they're double OT).

Again, Kobe, WOW.

Kobe definately showed why he deserves to be MVP. Kobe scored over 50 points in the second half. In addition, out scored the entire toronto team in the second half while having more fgm than the entire lakers team.
