"#1. He's not an impersonator, but a creator: When he's playing a person, he invents 50%. For Ed Wood, who he basically knew nothing about, he invented the whole thing. He wore false teeth and put on a bizarre accent. So, noone should ever watch his films dubbed in french. For Sleepy Hollow, a story that has existed forever, he played the detective with a feminine approach. Noone else has this same trait (as Johnny)
#2: He's a people-watcher: When preparing for a role, he is often inspired by people he knows quite well. He will seek out the (polarity) of characters: the light, the dark.
#3: He is never afraid/ he never has fear: He does not fear to play a bastard, a "Degueulasse"(no idea) or a pervert. still, each time he tries something, he thinks that he's going to be fired, that he goes too far. he doesn't fear to try, even in the extreme, he just fears not to do well. in fact, he always doubts.
#4: He teaches me actor's tricks: Indirectly, oui. Watching him, I learnt to use gestures more. I use them left and right. In Benny and Joon, when he is making an important declaration/speech, he plays with his look to break the rhythm and launch the action when nobody expects it. His play with looks inspires me sometimes.
#5: He helped me discover silent films: In particular the films of Lon Chaney and Clara Boux
#6: He enriched my Musical knowledge: With the underground Latin Playboys "Los Lobos". You know them? The first of their three albums is the best. And also with Iggy Pop. Very much so.
#7: He likes Gainsbourg, Lanzmann, Vian and Brel: He has some taste. When he didn't speak french very well, he spent his hours translating their songs. They're very moving.
#8: He knows French Culture better than I do: And in particular, the history of France. He says that I am a big fake and that my head is a seive. I did well at school but I remember much less than those who (can't make this word out). He's fascinated with characters. He always wants to know the why and how they do everything. Especially dictators. All the dictators. Architecture, also, that fascinates him. When walking around paris and a someone asks: "What's this thing?", well, it's Johnny that responds! It should also be said that the boy reads nonstop: novels, biographies... and everything he reads, he remembers.
#9: He likes literature: Francois Villon and Arthur Rimbaud do not have secrets from him (ie. he understands them very well).
#10: He never took French lessons: But he speaks well. Not enough, in my taste (my view). His favourite french expression is "de guingois" (means "lopsided" or "crooked"😉
#11: He loves wine: All wines: bordeux, bourgogne , all.
#12: He has the air of a child (he has a child-like quality): And its because of this that he is an excellent actor. The best of his generation, in my view. Children play without having to know why, how they look, or what’s going on around them.
#13: He is loyal to Tim Burton: The two boys are friends. That is all. It's as if they have known each other since school, they got along immediately and were inseperable. They have so much in common and are always making assholes of themselves like they were eight and a half. They exchange books, films, brushes, ideas all the time. They laugh. They drink. And, most of all, they trust each other.

#15: He has Indian blood in his veins: I love this. A little Indian, and a little Irish. What a mixture! And what a temper! If something doesnt pass, he breaks it. He can take things a bit hard. But there is nothing better: It's a manner that opens shortcuts in life.
#16: He is always beautiful: There, when you see the photos of Willy Wonka, you find that it is ... Remarkable, me too ... the problem, it is that the boy is so goodlooking. He does whatever he can to make himself ugly. Moreover, if he had more elbow room, he would do more in disfiguration and physical transformation. But the studios retain his look. All of them. The producers know well that they can sell the sexiest guy on earth. It's good that he guards himself a little bit. If he didn't, it would go straight to his head.
#17: He is fascinated with insane people: The majority of people to which Johnny attaches himself are magnificently bizarre!
#18: He does what he wants: He has the master key to the majority of big blockbusters, but he has always chosen his projects according to his convictions and never followed the path of 'the obvious'
#19: He is a maniac: His generosity. Yes, his generosity is manic/obsessive.
