Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depp Lovefest

I swear one day you and I need to put our heads together and write out Jack's whole backstory. Your fic is so dream-like. It's like no other fic I've ever read. I love how you hold back on the foreshadowing. It's in there, but it's realistic. Some fics that have flashbacks pretty much spell out what's going to happen to Jack to the point that he would have to be an idiot not to pick up on it. You put in just the right amount and it works for showing us Jack's character, not just what happens to him. Very well crafted.

soooo true... there are a million ways one could take it... I'm sure everyone has their own ideas about Jack, Calypso, etc... i guess that's what makes pirates so much fun, so much is left to the imagination.

I think I'm highly influenced by the canon wikipedia Jack backstory-- you know, freeing the slaves, branded by beckett, all that fun. and I think it must have been a phrase mentioned by T and T on wordplayer that got me thinking Jack and Teague weren't actually related, despite the mum comment.

Do tell about that last point!

Oh. Yeah, that was an interesting comment. I figure it was just so no spoilers would leak out, but it is an interesting idea, isn't it? That Teague isn't dad, but just someone from the past...maybe a Yoda kind of character that made Jack who he is.

(Elizabeth, very old, comes out of the cabin. She has on old fashioned horn that she holds up to her ear)

Elizabeth: What are they talking about?

Jack: Nothing, love. Go back to sharpening the swords.

Son: We just want you and Mum to be well taken care of.

Jack: Oh! Well then... (he scoops up Liz and swings over to a passing ship. He takes his hat off and bows to them.)

Granddaughter: (giggling and clapping her hands) Again! Again!

Jack: Maybe later! My joints hurt now!

Elizabeth: Escapes aren't what they used to be.

Word around town has it that JOHNNY DEPP has QUIT SMOKING!!! If this is true you guys have no idea how happy that makes me! Not only because its better for his health but smoking is just a habit i dont like...but since my love for Johnny is blind I was accepting that he smoked, but if he quit then there absolutely nothing now that I would change about him (although I have to admit Johnny made smoking look hott...lol) anywhoo this is the video that has everyone talking:

around second 00:44 Johnny either politely declines a cigarett by jokingly saying "Oh I don't smoke, but Thank you very much," but then if you think about it why would Johnny say that knowing he has about a million cameras on him and his die hard fans know that he does smoke. Is this his small way of announcing he quit?

Hmm, the Mystery of the Cigarette. Someone mentioned on here not too long ago what his diet was like and that he exercises more than he used to. He may be on a health kick, which is great because I am such an advocate of being in good shape. Having little kids in the house may have influenced his decision to stop smoking, too, so I bet it's true, or he's at least trying to cut down. But I'm with pocky...even if I did smoke, I wouldn't take some stranger's. That's like a celebrity accepting cookies or something from a stranger. You have one psycho that poisons them and that's it for you.

I vote for nicotine gum....he was power chewing at the oscars donchathink? Somewhere I read he was giving 'em up after his daughter was so very ill.

And yes, he even makes smoking look hot--definitely gives him something to do with his hands. Sure seems like if he gave it up, he'd put on a little weight, not get so thin as he was when he was opening Sweeny Todd.

lol...i just read that Johnny Depp has been offered $10 million to be the face of Trojan Condoms to promote safer sex. Apparently he hasn't given an answer yet.

ummmm ya I don't know what to make of this...he has to many younger fans for him to promote condoms yet his influence on ppl is crazy...ppl actually do what he does so there would proabaly be a lot less preggy teens out there. hmmmm....and personally i think he is too good to be a condom spokes person, he can influence in other ways and he currently has a lot on his plate!

piratediva, I really hope Johnny did quit smoking but the question is, does Vanessa smoke? If he quits but she doesn't, it's still not much good for their kiddies, ain't it?

btw, Johnny won fave actor award in Kids Choice 2008. Strangely for an actor who stars in mainly R-rated movies...so...must be the Capt Jack role that still resonates in so many young minds.

Hmm, condom salesman? A lot of Americans seem to look down on celebrities endorsing products so they go overseas to promote them, but I see nothing wrong with them advertising something as long as it's a good product and they believe in it.

It all depends on how you feel about premarital sex in general and the best way to educate young people about it. I just think kids should know every option. That's the way we were taught in school and they made it very VERY clear that protection is a good way to go, but nothing beats, well, doing nothing. And Johnny has just as many adult fans as kids and if he's a promoter of "safe" sex (...condoms can never protect you from the hurt that comes from loveless sex), then he probably looks at it as doing something responsible with his image.

But then....do you really want your image associated with condoms? He's a one-woman man with kids, so my guess is that he's not using condoms anymore and I personally wouldn't want to be seen as a celebrity who always has them with me "just in case." I don't know. Johnny and I have very different views and personalities.

Man, just say no is terminally lame. I'm trying to get over Johnny's face + condom...ohmy!! Yeah, now there's a shot, course, no, stop immediately!!! Okay, not my favorite endorsement for him. Now, chocolate ice cream--yeah, we got product frilling loyalty for daze!!

Vanessa doesn't smoke does she--haven't seen a pic of her with one, I don't think.
