Darth Revan VS Desann

Started by kamikz3 pages

1. Agreed, Revan was undoubtedly a better fallen jedi than Desann.

2. The describtion of the Valley of the jedi, is that the one who wields it's power is going to have the power unseen EVER BEFORE in the galaxy, to erradicate stars in a whisper, that sort of thing.
Now, Desann didn't have that capability, at least he wasn't skilled enough to use it. But we saw him pushing Luke, who could resist being pushed by someone who had, what was it, 200 planets of force users strenght (I don't remember this quote exactly but....) combined into one, and yet we saw Desann doing it like nothing. Also, keeping up with Luke Skywalker, who could move so fast he was barley seen and strike so that his sabers looked like more than one, is pretty good.

3. Actually, if you look closley, the two pillars that are on the far side of the room are already crushed, but the one close to you, is not. I belive they put those in to show, that Kyle really wasn't a match enough to kill Desann with this amount of traning, I mean, first invinsibility, then pillars to crush him with. If they just wanted a hard battle, shouldn't they just have given us a hard battle? Cause to win this battle is almost impossible if you play on challenging levels..... The fact that the game doesn't show his body when he's dead should prove this more...

2.) Between JO and NJO I'm not too familiar with the EU, but Luke's adversaries tend to get stronger in some way simply so the writers have a challenge for him. If Luke's the demi-god at JO then he must BE God by the time of NJO. This ain't the case since even Luke wasn't divine enough to take on the Vong, Force or no. The Valley is another way of making it seem like those who touch are the new saviours and villains of the galaxy the likes of which has never been seen before. Yet I seriously doubt Desann could compete with the likes of Ragnos, Sadow, Nadd or even Kun. And one shove doesn't automatically mean Desann is gonna wtfpwn Luke, it doesn't even mean he'll win. The movies have shown us that well enough.

3.) When Kyle first enters the room, the pillar that is below him and to the right is already knocked over. And the cutscene at the end varies: if you knocked over the pillar behind Kyle, the cutscene shows it, if he didn't it doesn't show. Since the invincibility is actually in the game, we must of course take it as real. Or not. How Kyle kills Desann is enitrely up to the player. And exactly, the battle IS virtually impossible to win. Not becasue Desann is uber, but becasue it makes for a VERY difficult battle.

isnt desann a video game character?

You could say that, perhaps.

Actually, I am his teacher. I found him long ago on a lonely and isolated thread and took him under my wing to train him as a Sith.furious

In the time since, he has steadily become more independent. A trait he has exhibited since his younger years.
Do not mind his bickering though, he stifles under the yoke of my authority.
starwars

The last time a duel took place between us, he ended up on crutches for a week. Couldn't talk either... crutch

*coughs*

2. As I have said before, I think Luke is better than Desann even at this point, but Desann's raw power thanks to the Valley was damn strong as well, and his swordsmanship was enough to hold off Luke for a long time. His precense in the force was to strong to be sensed by even Luke. Desann might not have the uberest of abilities but the powers that he does have are indeed very strong. He could push Luke to the other side of the room with pretty much ease, and even crush the roof above him and buery him for a while, not many would succeed in that.
I think he would lose to the likes of Ragnos and DE Sidious because lack of experience and deadly techniques, however the power that he got from the Valley plus his own is in the top no doubt.....

3. Well then you can't jump into the conclusion that because Desann managed to kind off stalemate Luke in a fight, Kyle>Luke. And that pillar is to the left, that's the one I'm talking about.
And how can you be sure it's just to have a difficult fight? Isen't that the whole deal? That Desann was very strong, so Kyle would need to think off other ways to win? That is what I belive anyway, guess there is no way to know. (Though the game makes it pretty clear that he didn't kill him in a fair duel, like not showing the body, having SEVERAL alternatives to kill him, no other boss has that.Of course, there is also the possibility that they wanted a unique last experience, and wanted Desann's body to look kind of like how you actually killed him.)

I also just thought of something.... Desann could make 3 illusions of himself easily, and crush a whole room when laughing. (Final level). Those powers are impressive, considering the first time Luke tried to make illusions he drained himself totally and was in a very fatally exhausted phase. (Though no doubt that Luke's illusion was more impressive, though this was in the NJO).

2.) Desann could push Luke and crush the roof on him, but that doesn't mean he'd win. I doubt very much that Desann would ever make the top ranked Force-users, or even Dark Siders, but I'm not Janus, so we'll steer clear of those waters.

3.) I have a very hard time believing Kyle beat Desann fairly, no matter what's said. Kyle is nowhere near Revan's level, I doubt Luke at this point is either. I swear I've seen a thread that proved that Revan would beat Luke at around this time, DE or so, but I ain't hunting it down. Revan took on alot of people in his day. Countless Mandalorians, Republic, Jedi, Dark Jedi, Sith, Malak and who knows else. Factor in his lifetime of Jedi training, experiences in both Wars, and Sith teachings...

Desann is a virtual unknown in comparison, and him pushing Luke with the Force and losing either fairly, or cheaply to Kyle Katarn is not conclusive evidence enough for me to ever believe that he could defeat Revan. Maybe Malak.....maybe.

2. I haven't said he was better then Luke, actually, I said Luke was better. However, pushing him his a damn good thing to do, and making Luke fear him, and standing up to him in a saber fight is damn good.

3. Actually, I've seen one of the NEWER threads where DE Luke won over both Yoda and Revan AT ONCE!

LOL!!!

That's a laugh, whoever said that is clearly a fanboy...

Hey, I made that thread you know!
