Ahhhhhhhhh I love Jack and Lizzie and ur right MINA.....why invest so much time in the film with scenes of Jack and Liz.....or implying Jack and Liz.....WHY? WHY? WHY?

I Know the writers KNOW THAT JACK AND LIZ make the better couple because why else would they make like 85% of all 3 movies of Jack and Lizzie being of on an adventure alone together? They always stick them together while Will is always of somewhere else in a plot of his own! (I know that Means something)
even Keira said it in COTPB she rarely saw ORLANDO on set because she had very few scenes with him and they always shot on Different days!!!!

Exactly...they saw what we saw...they saw the great chemistry between jack and liz on screen..but it was too late...so they thought...wouldn't be great to have Jack and Elizabeth kiss...but the only way the audience will accept that is to have it done in a life or death...and they were so wrong...because the audience fell in love with the idea of Jack and Elizabeth...because their chemistry just screams out to you...there is just something about forbidden love....a roguish, womanizing man finding that one special woman that changes his ways...

Yes i dont think they expected the audience to fall in love with JACK and LIZ!!!! But guess what T&T we DID!!!

DMC Moments:

How about how during the arrest scene...after the fate intervenes...Beckett says they are arrested for helping a pirate escape,
"you do remember a certain Pirate named Jack Sparrow" and liz and will quicly respond "Captain" ...look at Will...he becomes quiet and looks like a man that's thinking "gosh, my fiancee is quick to defend another man"....and then Liz finishes it by saying "Captain Jack Sparrow"...then notice how Beckett keeps his eyes focused towards liz with a smirky "yes, I thought YOU might.".....right here is our first indication...Beckett is like, "yes, Liz...i thought you might remember Capti. Jack..rumors are circulating that you are hot for the pirate despite your engagement to Mr. Turner"....
and then we get his "a marraige interrupted or fate intervenes" line...I love the look on Liz' face...and then when she says "these are not for Jack"..and Beckett responds "oh really?" (in other words, yeah right, the lady does protest too much)...

^^ That's a bit of a stretch. 😉 Elizabeth and Will both correct Beckett, then Will quiets down because he realizes he's given too much away already.

Will is trying to play it cool, but Lizzie is all defiant. 😄

By the way, I love Beckett's little smirk. I could stare at it all day. 😄

Also, the writers have said that Beckett was testing to see what Liz's reaction was...and she said that they weren't for Jack. Beckett was seeing how important Jack is to her, and obviously, not very. 😛

come on...the woman is in denial...do you honestly think she would come right out and say "okay, you're right...I'm in love with Jack. You got me..these letters are for JacK."...

See Surreal...that's what makes the whole Jack/Liz thing so appealing to us J/E shippers...it's the wanting,...but the not wanting to want..the denied feelings, the pent up feelings...that burst out in that Kiss of Death/Doom...come on, there are so many other ways she could have forced Jack to stay on that Ship..why kiss him, hummm???

Why is she smiling in a dreamlike fashion while thinking about Jack..that your man, Norrie, takes notice of...hummm???

And it's not a bit of a stretch...Elizabeth finishes "Captain Jack Sparrow" and Beckett keeps his eyes focused on her "yes, I thought you might"....

I think it's a bit of a stretch that Beckett is thinking that Elizabeth has the hots for Jack. 😉 I think he is seeing how much she cares about him, assuming that she is the easier one to manipulate.

I don't know of any other way than kissing Jack that she could have made him stay. If she'd drawn her sword, they would have fought (he had a sword too, remember?).

If she had tried to push him, he wouldn't have moved.

The kiss was the most logical way to keep him from noticing what she was doing until it was too late. It's a great distraction method. 😉

And while the dynamics of J/E are appealing, that doesn't mean that they will end up together.

But this is the "Bash Will Thread" so um....Will sucks. 😄

i'm going to have to disagree with you, Surreal, on the kiss bit, after the writers confessed Elizabeth could have probably overpowered Jack with a sword.

Plus, if you take into consideration Jack's compass moment before, He's already pretty much made his choice. He wasn't fighting anymore, if you watch it. The whole film he is fighting fate--- fighting his doom, fighting love, running between the raindrops. But after the compass moment, he's different. He's stronger, he's steady. He comes back with a clear purpose- he's no longer chasing around maniacally after jars of dirt---- he picks up the gun, he has a plan, he's the most stable we've seen his character maybe ever.

Elizabeth saw that.

Plus, if you're arguing that he would have fought with her sword to sword, or pushed her away, or yelled for help, he could have done any of that after THE KISS, and didnt! He still could have whipped out his sword, or yanked Elizabeth to him and held her there, or yelled for the others to come help.

Yeah, it was quick thinking on the part of Liz, but it definately was not the only way. Logically, it adds up to her wanting to kiss him and him wanting to go down with his ship, IMO. 🙂

I don't argue that she didn't want to kiss Jack. She did.

That's why he called her a pirate, remember?

Does that mean Elizabeth WANTS to be with Jack for forever, that he's the man that she would do anything for, that he's the one she would sacrifice anyone for?

Elizabeth could have used a sword BEFORE chaining him up, but that would have gotten unwanted attention from the others. It's not a matter of whether she would lose or not. She didn't want to the others to know what she was going to do (leaving Jack behind. 😛).

Jack was accepting of his fate because I think he planned to stay behind with his ship anyway(although the writers don't agree on this point 😄 ). Why would he scream and holler and fight her if he was going to stay behind?

Jack understands people, understands how they tick. He knew that Elizabeth would be facing some...difficulties if the others knew what she'd done. I don't doubt that Jack cares deeply for Elizabeth, maybe even loves her (desire and love are not the same thing 😉 ).

However, if Elizabeth had tried to fight him BEFORE he was chained, self-preservation would have kicked in, and he would have fought her. That's just human nature.

The kiss served the purpose of allowing Liz to kiss Jack and to distract him so he couldn't fight her until she had him all chained up. 😄

And Will sucks.

the kiss was hott. 🙂 and I agree, Will sucks. but only sometimes (mostly when he is wearing the stockings and buckle shoes in film 1) 😄

Well said, Kate....the way you describe Jack..that's him in that last scene in a nutshell...beautifully written...hats off...

And yes, the Kiss was Hott...and Will sucks big time...for me that's pretty much every scene he's in..sorry I don't have not even one little soft spot for Will....and he's ugly and a whelp...and a eunich...and...and...i'll think of something else to call the poor lad sooner or later...

I think denial is one of the points I love most about JE! and yes actually there WERE other ways to keep him on the ship...I thought up a few.

as for the Will matter? I don't feel for him when he's in Port Royal and all frilly and whelpy but it's like when he's in Jack's presence he becomes automacally more piratish and he becomes so CUTE and HOT. WEll ofcourse Orlando's HOT but Will's character? he only has some moments.

but NEVER as hot as Jack...LOL sorry couldn't help myself! just had to say that. sorry
