well people went into that movie knowing that would happen..people went into romeo and julliet knowing how it ends (book/play)
people went into titanic knowing it ends on a downer for the characters so it actually softens the blow for them...(history)
PotC?? no one knows..they want Jack to be happy..and are expecting him to be happy...it would piss a lot of people off if Jack had his heart ripped out and stamped on..especially if no one was expecting it like they were with phantom and romeo/juliet etc
