"why is the rum always gone" was supposed to be a cue as to what was on his mind (lizzie) although that went RIGHT over my head a good few times befoee I started to think.."ah does that have meaning?" lol

that didn't go over my scene probably because the beach scene is my fav. part in the 1st so i was thinking haha, good one!

no it ws pointing to her and then to the furthest away from her

if it was pointing to the chest then he need not have given it to Lizzie to find the chest..

when she held it, it did a similar thing to what it did for Jack except it wasnt as rapid..pointing between something she's familar/comfortable with and something "new and scary" to her. It pointed to Jack and it pointed to the means to save Will (chest)

with Jack it ponted to Liz (new and scary) and to the furthest away from (remaing a pirate on his own what he's familiar with)

you made this so much clearer for me!

this is very confusing

We all know we want Jack and Liz together....but will we get it? Who knows. I will admit...I loved POTC/COTBP but I had never seen it in the theatre...I only saw it at home...bunches of times....I fell in love with Jack and Johnny Depp..but thought I was the only one who was like "gosh, Jack should get Elizabeth, they have great chemistry"..but then I was like, yeah, right. Then when I watched the premiere of POTC/DMC at Disneyland on E! and Keira says "it was great, I get to kiss to hot men, Johnny and Orlando"....I was like..."did I just hear her right..she and johnny kiss..how in the world do they work that into the movie...jack and liz"...from that moment On I was possessed...I couldn't wait to see it at the theatre..I really don't go to the movies that much, I really hadn't plan to see this, as usual I was just going to wait for the DVD but after I heart this, I was like "no way I'm going to the movie to see this, I can't wait." I was hooked. I went to the theatre 6 times to see it - I haven't even seen six movies at the theatre in 10 years...much less the same movie 6 times in one month!!!!! This movie and the thought of Jack and Liz has taken over my life...I'm not on here on much cuz I'm trying to break the habit...it's not healthy for me...I'm not a teenager with no responsibilities...I have other things that I need to be more concerned about then this crazy movie...but I can't seem to stay away....

It's hard for me to imagine that pple love the Jack but don't want to see him with a woman....I think that would be part of his great character development...to go from a free-willing, lovable rogue, a ladies man into a lovable man with morals who has learned that there is more to life than material possessions....which is very evident in the last scene of DMC...I love that Jack Sparrow the best....he was so hott looking so serious...man oh man...with that sexy coat on, those hot boots, the sexy hair and beard, the smoldering look in his eyes...the smile at the end....the bravery of jumping into the Kracken....NOW THAT'S THE JACK SPARROW I WANNA SEE MORE OF...NOT THE COWARD WHO WAS RUNNING AND HIDING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE...NOT ONLY WAS HE RUNNING FROM SETTLING HIS DEBT WITH DAVY JONES, BUT HE WAS RUNNING FROM SOMETHING THAT SCARED HIM MORE...LOVE AND ELIZABETH....AND IN THE END...HE FACED BOTH OF THEM...HE CAME BACK AND EXPOSED HIMSELF TO ELIZABETH AND HE FACED THE KRACKEN AND ACCEPTED HIS DEBT OWED TO DAVY...THAT'S WHY HE WILLING LET LIZ CHAIN HIM TO THE MAST....ARRGGGHHHHHH
If they don't make this Liz and Jack, then everything we know about these characters and the deeper meaning of this movie is a load of crap and a BIG mistake....

LOVETHEMTIGERS!!! you just made me realise something!...ahh lol his DEBT TO DAVY!..Odysseus DEBT TO POSIEDON! he owes him a debt, a life for the life for a life! Oddy allows himself to be engulfed by the waves of Posiedon's fury in doing so he embraced the "vast and powerful" feminine!( Davy's vagina shaped Kraken 😂 )

I agree with you 100% lovethemtigers..I was going to post something similar..I was gong to say do people really want to see their fave character return to being an annoying coward who runs away from challenges all the time or do people want to see more of the Jack we got a glimpse of on the pearl at the end..I bet almost everyone would say Jack on the pearl..It made his character about 1 million time more likeable...I was like "OMG this is getting sickening Jack...you ran away again? you BASTARD"..then we see him come back it was amazing..the most satisfying moment of the entire movie..jack is BACK

I dont think people understand whats happening with Jack. They really dont. He is becoming brave because of a woman not because its the "right thing" because he loves a WOMAN..people are usually not as brave as that in times of danger UNLESS they are protecting someone they love...he may have gone back anyway but had it not been for Elizabeth..jack would have NEVER shown that level of confidence.

Personally I think Jack/Elizabeth are a done deal..

SO TRUE....The first time I am sitting watching DMC...I'm like thinking..what is wrong with Jack...he's not the same...he's become a coward..where is that carefree..witty...crazy....happy go lucky Jack of POTC...I was really getting disappointed when he would run and hide from the Kracken..then his scenes with Liz were great..ah, there's the Jack I know and love and on the island..fighting...but then when Liz spots him in the longboat I was like "oh no, why are they making Jack be such a coward"...right at that moment I was very disappointed in Capt. Sparrow...but then when he shows back up on the PEARL to save the day...I was friggin hysterical....GO JACK GO....Yes!!!!!!!! Then he was so sexy and serious and when he said "She's only a ship mate"....OMG....the one thing Jack has wanted most in this world, he is ready to abandon.....he's looking right at LIz.....oH well....

So, Jack character develops into something in DMC that many people who only look a the surface can't see......and I know we are right LovelyOne..cuz I've even heard interviews by Ted, Terry and such that say this...even those some at KTTC seem to ignore what's being said about Jack.....they still see Jack as a slimy, untrustworthy, filty, backstabbing, stealing, no-good-for-nothing comical Pirate....and I just don't see Jack Sparrow that way....does anybody in their right mind?????
Oh that was rude...I didn't mean that....scratch that...just get so frustrated taht some people try to belittle the character of Jack and what he is really all about....

even in movie 1 he was rather...cowardly though wasn't he..I mean we learn on the beach with Liz that as of late he's not as brave as he used to be.

Again I agree with you...

Jack is still very much a pirate but something has changed psychologically especially after this "sleeping beauty" death rebirth thing..in almost every movie I have seen that in the change is usually to do with making a female an obligation in life

actually it ALWAYS is...I cant think of one where its not to do with the opposite sex.

I think even Elizabeth might have to go through that kind of death rebirth stage because she is VERY much like jack.

the death is actually the moment directly after they have decided to be with the female, go after her etc..to come in touch with their feminine side

speaking of terry giving hints away on his website:

And, a point which always gets left out, sexist attitudes against youthful male actors.

Yeah ... we had Kiera 'dress' Johnny with his scabbard and had in tight quarters ... "Easy on the goods, darling."

here's more:

I don't notice any big connection between Depp and Knightly off screen; there is no dislike that I've heard of, but no special fondness, just a couple of working actors.

On screen chemistry is just something that happens, it's not a matter of writing it or even trying for it.

I think the connection between the two is that they are both Academy Award calibre actors ... all that freakin' crazy talent recognizing itself.

cool
Thanks kate 🙂

LOL^^

"easy on the goods darling" lmao

"you're despicable!"

sexual tension right from the get go.

Notice how they dont even mention Will/Elizbaeth onscreen moments?

because it DOESNT WORK WELL ON SCREEN LOL

they look like BROTHER AND SISTER!! disgusting inbred relationship 😘

VOM FEST!

know what..Its always the way..two people that know eachother before hand in real life and get on really well dont really work well on screen. I have seen it so many times Orlando/Keira is no diferent..It doesnt work well

remember cruel intentions..Ryan Phillipe was married to Resse and they just looked awkward on screen where as Sarah Michelle gellar and he worked reallty WELL on screen.

and when you think about it jack and Liz have so many more scenes together than Will and Liz
The scenes between J/L are always full of sexual tension and IMO seriousness
The scenes between will and Liz are always bleek, and IMO Liz always seems like when she hugs or kisses will she does it when jack is around only: maybe to make him jelous and want her more
Not sure but thats just the vibe I get when I see anything romantic between W/L I get the feeling it only to make jack want her more

every time Liz has kissed will or had a close moment with him someone is always there watching them..which takes away the closeness and intensity of an on screen chemistry.

Her dad, Jack, Norrington..people are always watching them have these little close meoments..it makes it lack in heat etc.

the only close one where no one was watching was where will got pissed off at her for lying to him.

heck even when she says "this is where my heart truly lies" Will snt even in the shot!..Its her and Jack

right and I think the scence in POTC 1 where he found out she took the medalion is vital:
let me explain why:
I think Will realizes she took something away from him that his father gave to him, Will lon
gs for a relationship with his father and Liz took something precious away from him that was given to him by non other than his father , for a while the medallion was the only connection Will had with his father and who took that way LIZ. He gets furious not only because her learns the need his blood to break the curse but IMO he is more upset that Liz for taking the medallion, taking the memory of his father and the ONLY connection he had with his father at the time Will has now formed a bond with his father and made him a promise, Will would never let anyone even Liz take the promise he made to his father wawy from him
This scene show that Will longs for a relationship with his father, more than a relationship with Liz
IMO

haha i just asked on wordplay whether screenwriters ever change scripts/stories to fit the chemistry of their actors... 😉

VERY TRUE
she dosent say where it is that her heart lies either and your right its only Jack and liz i the Shot!
Great catch!

if ppl are such fanatics of jack and chose them as their most fav character of all dinsey characters, then they surely wnat happiness for Jack. Whos gonna want their fav character being his old coward self again. The hero always gets the girl, and now our fav character is jack, who gets the girl. Jack is actually truely happy with liz. He wont be happy forever with material things and women...even his Black Pearl. Each character must face thei internal and external battles. Ever character must change...what kind of movie is it when a character stays the same allll theee tiiiimme..

Jack is sitll Jack but hes changed!! We see him in a different light thats satisfying for the audience and for himself, as well as others like elizabeth.
