How powerful is Dumbledore?????

I still don't think he's 'officially' dead (please correct me if some concrete evidence has been provided and I've missed it 🙂 ), so theoretically he didn't "get himself killed" and therefore what happened at the end of HBP is no reflection on his abilities.

If anything it makes Dumbledore and his prowess even more awesome because it seems as though he's trying particularly hard to make Voldemort think he's out of the way for good. If DD wasn't as powerful or anyone to be really concerned about, why would he go so far as to fake his own death in order to lull Voldemort into a false sense of security?

Although, having thought about it I think that DD is only more powerful a wizard in some respects, mainly because of his ability to love. Voldemort is evil, thinks nothing of murder and simply doesn't appear to have any kind of a conscience. I think that splitting his soul only weakened him temporarily and because he's gotten rid of what he considers a weakness (empathy) he could prove to be a formidable opponent, even for someone with the power of Dumbledore. I think it depends on which wizard we're talking about because on the one hand DD seems to have the advantage, but then that same advantage could also prove to be a negative. It's difficult.

Rowling confirmed in a recent book 7 interview that Dumbledore is dead and that Snape is still a good guy. She also said that whilst he is dead, Dumbledore has an important role in book 7

There's no truth in it though unless it can be fully backed up by JKR if you ask me. In sense, it's just a theory. No need for spoilers for theories.

Hes probably on the same par as Merlin hes old and wise enough and can just about manipulate situations to get everyone out of trouble maybe his dying was a manipulation in itself or maybe he was pulling an obi wan canobi ( sp no idea lol ) he can probably be of more use to harry in ghost form I guess
