Iranian's love art too...

In response to the Danish press drawing a cartoon of Mohammed, the Iranian's held a holocaust drawing contest. Not sure where the conection is.

One thing to take note though, drawings insulting to holocaust victims and survivors do not result in Jews rioting and burning. Unlike similar insults to Muslims.

it all seems to be based on the exploitation of the holocaust and the result of the same brutal mindset toward palestinians. its an illustration of modern hypocrisy....or more to the point political satire. i see nothing celebrating the death of 6 million jews. so, what reaction are they trolling for? i think they'll be disappointed. however im sure the actual artists are just finding rare pleasure in freedom of speech and expressing their minds while the iranian propaganda machine spins it to make it seem like a counter-offense. dumbass politicians are everywhere, trying ever so desperately to set off kneejerk reactionaries...although some of the work is quite antisemetic on the level of paranoid when dealing with america...oh well...i guess they're too dumb to realise were ruled by w.a.s.p.'s and evangelical christians.

:edit: caught the end where that stupid c*** implies that the holocaust never really happened. but is she one of the artists, or just some stupid c***?

First, it says it appeared on some Tehran news network. That should make you suspiscious right off the bat. Second, I'm one of the first to profess that Israel has recieved far too much support from the west. But, this is not a fair source. Of course they hate Israel, they want to blow it off the face of the earth.

Agreed, those looking to offend will me made to be the fools when Westerners and Jews do not respond with hate and violence. It's freedom of expression after all, even if it is tasteless.

don't assume that Jews won't hate first and ask questions later.

Last time I checked, Jews don't riot and burn when someone insults their faith.

well lets be fair and say isrealies. they are quite racist over there, but jews in america seem to be just as divided on the issue as the rest of us, from my observation anyhow.

absolutely, my bad. Israel.

there is alot of hate in isreal. dont think you know them just because you know some jewish americans. i knew a couple of people from isreal in college, and they laughed as they told me stories from their military service which made me want to....well eventually i just stopped speaking to them

LOL... Just a question, as an American who would you rather have as ally, Israel or an Islamic country?

both. if i had the power to decide but was forced to choose, neither.
in the case of iran though, id have to take the opposing side.

I'd rather they wiped each other out and then not have to deal with them.

But!...as an "American" as well as a member of the real world, I'd say Israel. Since they don't want us dead. But I think that's almost a strawman argument, since there is an implied absolute in the difference in options. There are a lot of moderate, logical and open-minded muslims out there, even in Iran. I just find it discouraging that every timeI hear an Israeli official or front-line soldier interviewed, they have new york accents. I'm just saying that goes a long way towards understanding why these people hate us due to our association with the Jews in Israel.(not that there is actually a difference between an "Israeli" Jew and an American Jew)

😮

That's making excuses for their actions, they hate us because we're friendly with Israel, ok... so what do we do. Do we turn our backs on an ally to appease them? Let's say they start hating Canada, do we then severe ties with the Canadians?

See I hate Israel as much as the next guy and yes the west does support them to a crazy extent but that is not the issue right now. Even with my support for my Palestinian brothers I can definitely say that video was some bullshit Iranian propaganda.

Well come on lets be realistic, it has more to do then just the fact that we are friends with Israel. Our friendship with Israel goes above and beyond without getting into the specifics and I do not think you can deny that.

I appreciate your honestly is expressing your feelings toward Israel, but don't you find it hypocritical that you think America supports Israel to a "crazy extent" but do not have a problem when Iran supports anyone against Israel to the same "crazy extent"?

Of course it does, I was just responding to his specific topic. Iran has hated us since the 70's, they're an extremist Islamic theology, western ideas mix like oil to water with them. Our friendship with Israel is the smart thing to do, it's the only real west-friendly country in the region. It's a friendship made out of necessity.

Oh no, I'm not advocating excuses. I'm advocating non-action on the part of an individual in a region populated by other countries that don't have the benefit of the modern western world having created them out of thin air. I'm saying that Israel shold exist on the global scene under the same circumstances that the rest of us exist under. Soverign rule and concern. A foothold in the middle east has been a huge concern of the western world since the middle ages. And my question is why? Many of the people I consider well-informed and well-educated on this topic have fallen short as to why we, the US, should sacrifice ourselves and our standing based soley on the well being of Israel. We gave them a country, beyond our right to do so, but gave it to them none them less....and now it's time for them to operate as an independant nation. If there is such a thing.

I should make this clear before I give out the wrong impression, I might hate Israel but I definitely do not have a problem with Jews in general. See the thing is that I do have a problem with Iran but I do give them some credit, I am not going to judge the country by that stupid media outlet, whatever it is called. Back to your point, the thing is, I think Iran is in the right, their views are just too extremist and not very idealistic and are not going to gain support from the west, they just feed the Israel PR campaign. Iran definitely has the wrong approach to this and I do not necessarily agree with them either but I do agree with their cause if that makes any sense.

I do agree it is the smart thing to do, but that does not make it the right thing to do, so again you can not blame those against Israel for being upset.
