Wow I never said anything about racism. Wouldnt be suprised if you're refering to me indirectly. All I said was that it would be nice if there more black characters.
However since there is racism everywhere I would assume there would be racism in Marvel. Wether the reason why there are few black characters is due to racism...I dont know, I would have to work in Marvel to find out. The only thing I can say is that alot of people assume just because black people arent lynched and aparthied is over that somehow racism doesnt exist. Theres racism in governments and in the police force why all of sudden would there be no racism in marvel? Im not saying that I defintely think that the reason is due to racism but from personl experience sometimes people think that racism is dead and buried then something happens to indicate that its still alive and well.?

I suspect that there are so few minority characters in comics because most successful characters were created well before anybody started to worry about diversity; if it's due to racism on the part of the people who *currently* run the companies, I'd be surprised.
For myself? I don't hold with people who complain that there "aren't enough" black/Asian/whatever characters, as if comics should be required to fulfill some sort of quota. It's just publishing. I'm an atheist; can you tell me how many atheist superheros there are? Not many. This does not upset me. If Marvel or DC wants to introduce more black or Russian or Australian or Mormon characters, more power to them. If they don't, more power to them. As long as the characters they *do* introduce are interesting, the art is good, and the stories well-told, I can't say that racial diversity is a huge issue for me.

This is while back but David Chapelle was making a joke about how white people didnt think black people were geting arrested and having items forced unto them until evidence started coming out.
People in the Uk thought that racism in the police force was improving until the police got secretly filmed.
Things have improve alot but even when things where worse white people were like "Oh no no your just making stuff , things arent like that anymore." 🙄

Also, you feel that there are not enough characters, which obviously means there needs to be more, wouldn't characters made "just so there's more" be "filling a quota" Like you think they shouldn't be?
Which would you prefer, black characters being made to reach that 12% and possibly being handled poorly since they're characters who probably wouldn't have much thought behind them and were made to reach that 12%
Or characters not being handled poorly since they weren'tcreated to fill a quota, and the people writing them probably have a better grasp of the concept?

There are enough minority characters for now. There needs to be better handling of the ones that are out there. including the women characters. Given the fact that nearly a quarter of readers are african american, and there is a growing number of female readership, you would think the companies would get hip with the program and start using the characters they have. here's a list of characters I would love to see get some good treatment. Oh one more thing, Marvel sucks when it comes to diversity except in the xmen books. They have always had some of everyone in thier books. Natives, asians, latins, blacks, you name it.
