Gotta say something about some of the PT vehicles, costumes etc...
A lot of that stuff (especially stuff that ties directly into the the OT) is forced, contrived, and uninspired.
The jedi starfighters in Sith are a perfect example..they're not cool, they're crap!
The original clone troopers...don't look cool, they look lame!
So many people fool themsleves into thinking all this PT stuff is cool...just 'cause it's in their favorite new Star Wars movie...and you know what...it's just ugly, lame crap... (There is a lot of good stuff, but the ARC fighter is NOT one of them...ugh!)
When the OT first came out, it was (for the most part) art unbridaled, unleashed...an open canvas to do whatever with the Star Wars universe. Really, at the end of the day, is the Millenium Falcon not one of the coolest things you've ever seen...NOTHING in the PT even comes close to that.
There was room for artistic expression in the PT as well, but not as much because you always had the OT looming over you...and no matter how you dice it, that WILL get in the way of complete artistic expression.
ARC fighters?...that is easily the ugliest of the bunch...if you like them, you simply like bad art... (that is sooo me, isn't it?)

1. It makes perfect sense to have things align in the PT with the OT. If they didn't you'd just complain about how there was such a disconnect between the sagas.
2. You can't insult clones, especially since they put stormtroopers to shame.
A lot of the stuff in the PT shows tremendous originality. What about the lartys? What about the Delta-7 Starfighters and the hyperspace rings? What about the droid fighters?
What you seem to be missing is that starships are supposed to show connections and allegiances. You're meant to associate the ARCs with the X-wings and the Eta-2s with the TIEs. Droid fighters are supposed to look like mass-produced over-marketed cheap Taiwanese knock-ups.
You may just find them to be a lame reflection, but they really are not.
