JLA, Who'd you cast?

People, people, come on! Everyone has picked Brandon Routh as superman? I liked the movie, sure, but i would never pick him if I had a choice. C'mon now. Dig deep. Think! Who would really be good for these roles. Not just of what teenage heart-throb of the last 6 months would be good, but, of all actors avaliable today!

First of all, which green lantern are we talking about here? People have assumed Hal Jordan, but he left (demolished) the GL corpse ages ago. I think a new JLA would cast the young buck (i forget his name).

Also, I personally feel most superheroes should be played by relative unknown actors because, if history is any lesson (catwoman, daredevil, the league, elektra), casting a star in the lead is a kiss of death for comic movies.

But since we can't cast unknowns 'cause we don't know them, here's my list:

Superman: Ben Kingsley (25 years ago, it'd be Paul Newman)
Batman: Denzel Washington
Wonder Woman: Vivica A Fox (15 Years ago, it'd be Cher)
Green Lantern: Johnny Depp
Flash: Matt Damon (though I like Reynolds for this too)
Martian Manhunter: Anthony Hopkins
Aquaman: Chris Cooper
Green Arrow: Harrison Ford
Plasticman: Jim Carrey of course
Powergirl: Jodie Foster
Vixen: Queen Latifah

I'm sorry but I cannot envisage Ben Kinglsey as Superman or Queen Latifah as Vixen. The others are fine though.

You limit your imagination way too much, man. Comics and movies are about expanding our fantasies, not supressing them.

Why not a black batman? Who says Bruce Wayne has to be white?

Why not an old, bald superman? Though, you do realize there's such a thing as wigs, right? Though you don't know it, most of your favorite stars having worn a wig for a flick one time or another. They're that good at making it believable. And, he won't look old in make-up either. Besides, Kingsley's only like 40. Harrison Ford is over 60.

Kevin Spacey isn't actually bald, everyone knows that, but he looked like lex luthor in the film. In the 70's, Gene Hackman had hair as lex, and that worked out fine.

And actors gain and lose weight for roles all the time, I don't see why Latifah should be any different. And who cares if she's not skinny?

I don't limit my imagination at all. I have 114 writing projects completed/in the process right now, plus 12 comic sagas, lol.

Bruce Wayne is a white guy in the comics. Superman isn't bald. This isn't about imagination, its about sticking to characters. If you change their races and such, you might as well change other things, and then what's the point? You don't cast a white guy to play Nelson Mandela just for something different, lol. Believe me, I understand "movie magic". I never stated that they can't change people around to adjust them for roles, but the only way that its beneficial is if the person is a FANTASTIC actor and they'll spend the extra money. If someone was playing you in a movie, would you want them being the total opposite? Wonder Woman is an attractive, thin (not stick thin), lighter skinned woman. Why cast Latifah? Lol. You're obviously free to have your own opinions, but don't tell me I have no imagination or try to teach me anything about movies.

there's a reason why the guys who create the movie are there and people like u only get as far as a comic forum...thank goodness!

a black bruce wayne? might as well say he can turn into a bat, fly faster than a speeding bullet and has a gl ring!

Side note....has Batman ever been given a GL ring? I know Supes has, but damn, Bruce deserves one.

sorry to have offended, my friends. Please dont misunderstand. I'm sure you all have wild and fantastic imaginations-- all comic fans do-- but it clearly has unnecessary limits. All people have limits.

I'm sure you would have had a hard time imagining superman as a being of pure energy, no heat-vision, no strength, and the necessity to eat and sleep like humans, but for two years he was exactly that. Pre-The Dark Knight, I'm sure you could have never imagined Batman as a killer or a man of shadows, but that's what he became and is today. And could you have imagined that Hal Gordon would have killed the Corpse, tried to wipe-out the universe or die and be re-born as a completely different, already established hero? These things seemed ridiculous and outlandish at the time, but someone with the imagination for the impossible made it happen. And now, it all seems only natural and right.

Could you have seen the King Pin as a black man? It's been done. Dare Devil with Ben Affleck.

You don't have to learn anything from me you don't want to. I'm not your teacher. I've spent a long time learning the craft of movie making and I've only just begun holding courses and workshops of my own. I've still got a lot to learn. I like the questions asked in this forum. The people here have a great passion and love of comics and it's great to be able to sit at home and witness kids discuss and challenge and question and grow. It's a unique perspective I rarely glimpse anymore. So, I'm sorry to disrupt. The last thing I want to do is impede the discussion. But it can be helpful to get a new perspective.

Remember, though you may be able to see the entire world from where you're standing, you never see everything until you view it from a different angle.

Superman: Tom Welling
Flash: Micheal Rosenbaum
Aquaman: Alan Ritchson

Thats all I got right now

67 YEARS OF COMIC BOOK HISTORY!!! 🤨

Superman: Anyone but Brandon Routh 😖hifty:

Batman: Christian Bale

Wonder Woman: Charisma Carpenter except her voice doesn't suit. Too whiny for a warrior. If Lucy Lawless was 10 years younger...

Wally West: Ryan Reynolds

GL Kyle Rayner: An unknown?

Martian Manhunter: CGI

Aquaman: Frankly won't get much screentime in any JLA movie, so it probably doesn't matter who or what they cast.

droolio I remember her hotness, she would have made a great wonder woman.

brandon routh is fine, christian bale is fine, lucy lawless would have been good for wonder woman, ummm charisma carpenter is still that whiny girl from buffy to me

Remember this well...superheroes are not celebrities.

Superman: Dominic Percell (Dracula: Blade Trinity)
Batman: Cristian Bale
Wonder Woman: Kate Beckinsale
Wally West: Shaun William Scott (But I like the Rosenbaum Suggestion a lot)
Hal Jordan: Jude Law
Martian Manhunter: CGI Voiced by Hugo Weaving
Aquaman: Daniel Craig

Sorry to all you Brandon Routh fans... I just didn't like him.

I get the Picture

Warning Brothers Bat-Man & Superman

Superman: ?
Batman: Cristian Bale
Wonder Woman: Kate Beckinsale wasnt a bad suggestion
Wally West: Michael Rosenbaum
Hal Jordan: Robert Downey Jr.
Martian Manhunter: Djimon Honsou
Aquaman: Heath Ledger
Green Arrow: Sean William Scott

It'd be shit if you don't have Flash 1 on JLA...have his costume with speed blur all over it and take the small lightning and the helmet plain no wings but curved on the sides. Leave only Shazam with it...if you care. I know I do, so I post.
