Sorry jack, but the 40 tons is canon, and in the manga there really isn't anything to disprove it. Hell, in the anime, Piccolo and Goku had trouble lifting a BUS.

40 tons. it was more because the gravity on the planet was 10x. 80,000 x10. 800,000. 400 tons. Placed on each limb. And you dare say Goku is weaker than Super. Goku struggled with that wait at base and moved around like it was nothing going SSJ 1.

Like EM has posted countless times, tons is a measure of force, not mass.
Take 40 tons of weight and place it in 10 times Earth's gravity, it is no longer 40 tons, it is now 400.
But, South Kai was already in the 10 times gravity(no proof it is 10 times gravity btw), so when he said 40 tons, it was just that, 40 tons.
And let's say it was 400 tons, or even 800,000. That kinda weight is NOTHING to Superman.

3. Show the scans then. Superman has taken punches from physical powerhouses like Superman Prime who can push planets out of orbit at speeds so fast that the planet appears to have instantly appeared at its stopping point when he stopped.
